OK,
I have got a route in mind, starting at the first Layby out of Lancaster on the A683. For those coming North up the M6, exit J34 (extreme caution - accident blackspot ) and turn left away from Lancaster, the layby is on the right after a row of houses.
Meet up at 9:30am on Sunday 29th September and, as before, the route will be handed out. General plan is to drive up to Keswick one way and come back a different way avoiding as many caravans and , er, sheep as possible
Will incorporate twisties (but not single tracks) - feed back welcome (i.e. if date is too soon, etc...)
Jon
MY00 DBM Sport, gold 15's
Ps. I'm off to the New Forest this morning and may not be able to get to a computer until Monday night
edited to change date to 29th - NB will probably change so as not to clash with NM7

Lets see what the concensus is Jim - this date was suggested at the Wiggin tree on Wednesday but if everyone agrees this date is not good, then we'll move it

If it is the Sunday 29th Sep, then I will be up for it. Will be travelling from the north east via Alston and Penrith so will be best for me to meet up at Keswick. What time do you plan to meet up there and where?

As this run is on the same day as MTR's Northern meet 7, will you be doing it before or after as you posted that you are going on NM7!!! or are setting up a rival meet. I can't be in 2 places at once.

Robbouk, there should be a button marked TI on the front press it and it should come up TI OFF on the screen, failing that if you press the AUD button until the menu comes up it will be in there some where.

I was in the Lakes on Sunday. It was fairly quiet, no caravans and some good roads with not much traffic on.
The route I took after travelling from the north east to Keswick (if this is going to be the meeting point) was the B5289 to Borrowdale (plenty of places on this road to book up for lunch). Then the Honister Pass, some dramatic scenery and roads which eventually led to Cockermouth. Then the wonderful A66 back to Keswick where people can re-group.
Then from Keswick, take the A591 to Grasmere, Ambleside, Windermere, Kendal (Wildings are based here and have welcomed Scooby meets in the past), then folks are free to join the M6 at the end of the day to go home.
Just my thoughts but I reckon that would make a good route.
What does everyone else think?

Just a note...
Having organised 2 lakes camping trips and several runs... I have knowledge of ALL suitable A and B roads we have done....
If the organiser of this run would like a copy then mail me direct and I'll mail the 2 suitable one's I have over
Just trying to help
P.s; There's a great pub at the end (Nr Jnc 34 Carnforth) it's our very own adopted Scooby pub

Hello all,
Sorry I have not replied sooner, had a mad weekend in the New Forest at the International Autojumble, held at Beaulieu. Three huge fields packed with hundreds of stalls selling everything from brass screws right up to £15,000 100 year old cars
All I could find Scooby were a nice set of silver 15's (my 15's are gold), some well kerbed 16s, some indicators (orange ) and a complete tailgate for a silver wagon! - but I did see a couple of new UK300's
Anyway, the in-laws have now gone back to France and the builder has cancelled extending my drive (can't get scoob on ) so my weekend is free to go on a recky run if anyone is up for it either this afternoon or tomorrow - email me (in profile) or give me a bell on 07977 133 319 if you want to help me put a route together.
Ps. yeah, I know I got the dates wrong anyway, I did say it was not set in stone as some folk might not be able to make it - if everyone is going to Northern Meet 7 (I will not be as it looks like it is turning into a bit of a race meet with all those non-scoobs going) then we can alwys put this run back
Cheers, Jon

Well, I got no calls on my mobbly so went off by myself
What a stunning day and the roads wern't too heavy. Don't want to post the route on the net but I think you guys will not be disappointed
Some "fast" sections, sheep, plenty of twisties, sheep, a nice pub for lunch with a car park to fit 30 Scoobs in and a big beer garden, sheep, stunning scenery (but less about the sheep) and loads of Lakes and Mountains to not look at as we will be too busy concentrating on our driving - something for the co-drivers of course
I have amended the first post to Sunday 29th but this is clashing with NM7 - do you want me to change the date (ie Jim Litten does) or are we ok with the 29th? - I think I will be going to the Tour of Derbyshire the following weekend (6th October) as this is my birthplace and I have not been back for ages...how about Sunday 13th October????
Cheers, Jon
