Thought I would tell you about a little problem I had with the scoob just recently in the hope that others wil gain from my hopefully solution.
Thanks to JB at the clinic for putting up with a hysterical woman on the phone and please tell Kev you need that smellyphone .....
I had a problem yesterday after taking the scoob out where I could smell burning so I phoned JB who went through all the usual with me over the phone... check oil - temp guage - look for oil round turbo, carrier bags on the exhaust
etc etc... nothing out of the ordinary ....
So whilst looking in the engine I noticed there was a power cable sat on the top of the alternator (yes I do know what it is - its the bit I shouldnt clean or get wet
)
Anyway I lifted it off the alternator and took the car out this morning and thrashed her within an inch of her life... I thought well if this is going to go its going to go while garages are open
Anyway ..... no more burning smell and on top of the alternator is a little melted heat wrap off the cable.....
Anyone of you that know me know Im a little paranoid about strange knocks and smells as its an 04 car and has already had a new bottom end and a new turbo
so Im usually on top of them as quickly as I can...
Anyway.. all go out and have a look at your power cables on your alternators
Ive cable tied mine away from the alternator now and when I pop down to the clinic on the 8th march will have her checked over
Thanks JB
