If any of you boyz n gals are thinking of remortgaging or taking out a loan....then hold out for a lil while as more than likely there will be a 25 basis points cut in Feb/Mar. Even poss there could be in total two or three rate cuts in the next 3-6 months. This is JP's Tues special!

 

I really hope i've done the right thing, i've just gone into a 5 year fixed rate that brought my payments down by £100 a month! Maybe i should have hung on for a while At least i know where i am for the next 5 years i suppose.

jonoburns - You weren't to know. You probably wouldn't be able to anticipate unless you work or know someone in the finance world. You need to consider what rate you have just fixed at, and how much would it cost you to break this i.e, break penalties against say a better deal over the term of the new deal. Remember also you are given 30 days to cancel it upon commencement of the new deal i.e. just like when you buy something in the shop. Best thing for you to do is now wait tight and see what happens say around Mar/Apr - then do your sums. The positives are as you said, atleast you know what you are paying for the term of the mortgage.

Claire - I work in finance industry, currently with a Private Equity House based in London so always get an idea of what is happening or going to happen out there. The firm are in the real estate industry business.
