Default Worst case scenario

After doing a bit of research or should i say panicking ive come to the realisation that unless i get a better paying job or one thats closer to york i will have to sell my car as im unable to afford to run it

I feel really sick right now as i just didnt realise how much i was spending on fuel. at present im paying out £55 every 4 days for work. as you can imagine thats not a good sign.... this doesnt even include if i go out on a day off .... so im a bit stuffed really.

Ive pm'd rick asking for solutions on how to restrict the car possibly to reduce petrol consumption. I can only hope and prey there is a solution.

If not im afraid i will be putting the car up forsale. I will say although ive only had it a short while ive enjoyed the car immensely and obviously the friends that i have found along the way. As you can imagine im in quite a sorry state right now so unfortunately xmas isnt helping. I will do my best to keep you all informed.

Get LPG fitted. Seen one for sale with it done, so its obviously do-able. Bit pricey to start with though, but you get your money back if you do the miles.

Or as above, get a cheap diesel.

Get yourself a nice cheap run around and keep the Scooby for entertainment on your days of Steve, don't sell it

Failing that, fashion yourself a block of wood and stick in under the right pedal, that'll keep the revs down and milage up

You just can't argue with diesel now. I used to spend £50 a week on Opti when I had the Scoob and did IRO 250 miles (100 commute and the rest social). I now do IRO 450 miles a week (300 teaching, 100 commute and much less social ) and spend £45. My little Furby is even fun to drive with in-gear acceleration matching many Scoobs, although cornering speeds are significantly lower. 312 lb/ft in a small light car with minimal drivetrain losses =

Furby will be the next chav-chariot if you keep plugging them Dave !
Fuel goes up a bit more they'll all be selling classic Imprezas and buying diesels. Jamesemt loves his wifes, prefers it to his re-mapped Ibiza TDi !

Have a great Xmas to you and the family.

I agree to a point... That diesels are better...... But my 420 volvo does 6 to the galleon and the 380 Scanias do about the same... In fact i spend on diesel around £10,000 pounds a month ......So whats my scoob do... .. On the road about 17 to the galleon.. which i think is good.. But around elvington.. Its no damn good at all its worse than the trucks.... But looooooots of FUN... And yes i do have a second car.. its a 2.8 mitsubishi pejero..... which is also loooots of FUN.. . Now take my bike thats a 1400 GSX K7. 150 bhp.... and looots of torque.. and that does about 55 to the galleon.... and that will kick the **** out of the scoob.. . And thats looots af FUN to. So my advice Steve.... is buy a fast bike you know it makes sense....
