Default What do you clean your car with.

Okay thought id put a post up as so many of use different types of cleaning products.

Autoglym
Meguiars
Dodo Juice
Zymol

and so on

What id like to know is whats your preference and how easy it is to apply to the cars , how often you need to clean it , Are you on a budget.

I shall start this off i guess.

Having tried a few products in the past ive come to rely heavily on Meguiars these past few years.

Products used at the moment are : Glass Cleaner , Spray Wax , Tech Wax , Tech Protect , Bug & Tar Remover , Scratch X , Gold Class Shampoo , Gold Class Wax , Hot Rims Alloy Wheel Cleaner , Tyre Spray , Tyre Gel (Preffered) , Metal Polish , Plastix Cleaner , Leather care.

I have found them all to be of great use and to make the car shine for a few weeks hence why im looking for a silver car easier to keep clean

Shockingly ive probably spent about £150 on this lot so far but i have used a few bottles of each in the past few years. Found it great value through either halfrauds or ebay for these products too.

When done right the colour does look really well on average when i do clean the car it takes me 4 - 5 hours at home and about 3 hours when at shows as have usually cleaned it the day before.

If any of you would like any recomendations or have some then please do share it here.

By the way the use of a sponge is classed as swearing in the cleaning community so please get the proper accessories

thanks for reading i look forward to your input and so on.

Steve

Hi steve, I do use megs and have a silver car.... however easiest colour to keep clean....
I from experiance find it the hardest to get a good finish on, the darker colours are alot easier to shine but with silver it requirs alot more work.
Silver does look cleaner for longer as the dirt doesnt show up as easy.
As for products I am going to try some zymol next to see if its any better

and then top it off with a spray of Mr Sheen

Seriously though, using erm.... <<<runs to look>>>

Zymol wash
Mer polish
and I cant remember what the wax is .... its in the car and the car's gone to bed

I use either Citrus Wash n Gloss or Poorboys Slick n Suds as detergent. If I need a prewash I use Turtle wash orange applied with a 2.5 litre pressurised garden spray. Dry with a waffle weave towel... fav are Sonus Der wunder. CG synthetic detailer lubricates my WW towels. Any minor imperfections either Megs 83 or Menz FP2. Then I have a selection....Trade secrets Carnauba polish... a treat for filling minor imperfections, similar to Autoglym but less dust. CG Final Polish or CG Mirror Like Finish then Nattys Blue. I'm sure I've a few others but those mentioned are ALL really nice to use by hand and with minimal fuss. Bob

I like Poor Boys Slick and Suds to wash, Zymol wax and Jeffs Workstatt Acrylic which is find by far gives the best results on my silver classic. Of course that does rely on me actually being bothered to clean it in the first place
