Default Farage vs Clegg

Farage and Clegg are going to have a debate on the EU. Should be interesting for those not so keen followers of the arguments. It will also be interesting to see how it plays out in the media. Will it be another defining moment for Clegg like the 2010 debates were?

Can't wait. It will be the final nail in the coffin of one of them and the making of the other.

Get them all up there, including those lentil munching Greens.

It could be a real wake-up to those parties who think they know best and that the public can't be trusted to have a say.

Well said, I think Martin is a member of one of the main parties as he is eternally dismissive of anyone that dares to suggest we should vote for someone other than them!

They only way this country is going to rid iteself of the career politicians that now inhabit the main parties is to start voting outside the box. I am left wing in my views, but recently the ONLY party who convince me that they believe what they say is right for the country and not just for their pockets is UKIP.

Yes many if their policies may need work and expanding upon, but at least I don't feel like I am being patronised and fed BS that will be forgotten as soon as they are elected and back feeding at the trough!

Some of there policies are indeed quite interesting, some of the stuff about energy generation actually sounded quite sensible.

Thing is as much as I hate to do the disillusioned youth bit, I can't help wonder how much of what they're saying is down to the fact it's what they believe the public wants to hear.

Getting tired of UKIP being dragged down by some people.
Looking at what's on offer,I would rather vote for them than Con or Lab.
Maybe a bunch of fruit cakes could run the country better..

Farage versus Clegg?

Well, one of them is a liar, three times proven.
And the other is too.

Clegg has pretty much lost all credibility in politics and for his party. This is merely a publicity stunt for Clegg for himself since he has become the most unpopular politician in the UK and his career has been in a downward spiral since the coalition. This will either make or break him.

It will destroy him. Farage will, as previously mentioned, tear him a brand new ar5ehole.

I really don't hope to get out of the EU by voting UKIP. What I do hope for is the possibility of a better deal from the EU just because people are listening to what Nigel Farage is saying. The Tories are very nervous about losing votes to them and will be leaning in that direction hoping to stave off the worst effects. Labour are led by a complete chancer who would sell the country's soul to get in. Milliband as PM? God help us. The Lib Dems have lost the plot.
That's why I'm voting UKIP.

Even though by your own avowal they (UKIP) are likely to renege on their promises?

My scrutiny of politicians has changed a fair bit over the years.

These days when voting for a local MP or MEP (which about as far as decomcracy really goes). I now investigate the candidate's career background.

Any politican than hasn't had a real world career I disregard....For example Andy Burnham...politician since he left university, Milliband - same, Cameron -same. All one track career politicians, who from an early age became over-ideoligcal of how a country should be run without actually experiencing living and working in it to any proper extent.

Clegg's career is more interesting and varied, however its still media and politics based. And the media industry is somewhat detached to the rest of the public's experiences with the world.

Farage's career, isn't exactly grass roots either - he has had a priviledged upbringing, but he has been "out there" so to speak, and I think it shows in his demeanor.

I haven't heard Nigel make any promises! He just wants to get us back in a place where we have some control over our own lives.
Politics can only be about the direction in which you wish to lean. UKIP won't win the election, but they will have influence, which is all you can wish for.

Interesting looking on fact checker. 7% of laws only coming from Europe is a lie. Surprised Clegg used that again. Does he think we are idiots.

Farage seemed like a clear winner in the second debate to me.

One thing from the reaction to these debates is that I really do think Cameron must be a worried man if he is serious about giving the public a referendum on the EU.... then again I doubt he is serious about it so no worries I guess!

This was the best quote from Farage for me:

This country, Nick, has had enough of getting involved in dangerous foreign wars. There is no evidence that our military intervention in these countries is making things better. With you as deputy prime minister we bombed Libya and it is worse now than it was then.
Plus what he said outside the debate about Putin, Cameron and Syria!

He did, but Clegg just insisted it was right, then it's his word against Farage's.

Probably one reason the whole thing went so strongly against him this time.

I have to say that Clegg does come over as one of Pete's Eton boyz.

They were both guilty of spinning the numbers and facts.

Fact checkers had Farage the clear winner in the spin department though - hang on I though he was supposed to be different to other politicians?
