Wales is quite big, you know. Which part of Wales do you want to venture? North, Mid or South?

If North, check these two 4* hotels (If not 5*) out>

http://www.quayhotel.co.uk/
http://www.ruthincastle.co.uk/index.php

Both are good in my experience.

Go up to Snowdonia mountain and surroundings, if you come up North-ish. Good twisties for your wench, of wench means your car. If wench means your wife, she'd also love twisties.

As Swati says the Quay hotel is lovely, as is Snowdonia.

Check out www.rarebits.co.uk , some lovely places on there.

Gower is lovely, also Brecon beacons and mid Wales.

Cardiff also great with plenty of classy shopping, good food, Cardiff Bay etc and loads of good hotels.

Brecon Beacons are stunning, Chip. Also, for Cardiff. Marriott near the Cardiff Central station is quite good to stay.

If you're going soon, considering the weather, I'd go for Cardiff. Snowdonia is lovely but I think it can look pretty bleak on a bad day.

Some nice recommendations there old chaps,
Were probably looking more to the northern areas of wales,

Somewhere 4 star minimum with a laid back nature like the boutique style hotels with spa baths and so on,.

The Quay is lovely then. Book an estuary view room.

Also check out The Groes Inn, plenty of Ferrrris etc to gawp at on weekends.

+1 for the Quay Hotel in Deganwy. We use it for business functions and the food is exceptional.

Failing that have a look at the cottage rentals available as there's some lovely places in the Conwy valley.

If you really want to spoil yourself keep on going onto Anglesey and look at Tre Ysgawen Hall http://www.treysgawen-hall.co.uk/ or Nant Yr Odyn hotel http://www.nantyrodyn.co.uk/

The joy of Nant Yr Odyn is that I'll probably be your alarm clock as I go belting past on my way to work as it's just at the top of my road.

I stayed there a couple of years ago and it was really nice but I wouldn't say it was laid back Boutique style? I remember it having heavy furniture and a creaky bed Lovely place for weddings though.

Addi, if you weren't fussed about min 4* rating with Spa, there're also some chilling 3* without spa around in North Wales e.g.

This one is very nice. I'll give it 4 out of 5 for a 3*> Soughton Hall Country House Hotel (Their website link is broken, but you'll get to it via booking.com)

These two are good with 3 out of 5>
http://www.northophallhotel.co.uk/
http://www.plashafodhotel.com/offers/

Many people like this one, but I'll give it 2 0ut of 5>
http://www.rossetthallhotel.co.uk/

Many people stay here, because it’s in a beautiful place called Llangollen, and it has spa, but I don’t like their doors and furniture. 1 out of 5. >

Anyway, The Quay Hotel might be your best bet.

He'd be welcome of course, you too, though you didn't bother calling in last time you were down, I expect you had something more important to go to that night

Yes, I instead was a guest to Mr. Barlow and the boys with your courtesy, Chip.

I do visit Cardiff sometimes, although my major work in direct connection with Cardiff is done for now. You're also most welcome whenever you travel this patch, you know that.

Try the Nant Ddu Lodge, on the A470 nr Merthyr and just around the corner from the A4059 . You get a table booked as part of your reservation and it's got a spa, pool, massage, aromatherapy etc etc going on.

It's a 30 min run down to Cardiff, the lights and a large John Lewis, Ikea, the Castle, the Bay and numerous other activities. The museums are free to. I like Viva Brazil near the railway station for food but there are numerous others about.

If it's soon look carefully at the home Six Nartions Rugby Internationals/Cardiff home football game dates as this will curtail some of the cheap deals that are on.

Right, I've found another one in Llandegla, North Wales. There is a Clay Pigeon Shooting place in Llandegla that would add charm to your trip.

Horse Shoe pass in very close to it, so is Llangollen. Both places are worth seeing.

Anyway, the hotel is called Bodidris Hall (a 16th century building). Apparently it is a 4*.

www.bodidris.com, I think.

I was reading my Groupon junk mail for a change, and a good offer on this hotel stay propped up. Up to 50% off.

http://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/chest...-hall-34174508

No comments from me on how it is, as I've never been there.
