Stupid *** bin men
We've recently changed to a waste and recylcle collection on alternate weeks.
I happened to miss the after Xmas collection for waste as no one was at home. So out it went this week, with 2 bin bags that couldn't fit in the wheeelie bin next to it.
The bin men have stuck a sticker on top of the rubbish that was in the wheelie bin saying no side rubbish.
So now I'm left with the 2 bin bags that couldn't fit in the wheelie bin + the full wheelie bin.
I could maybe understand it if they didn't take the 2 bins at the side, and then stuck a sticker on the those.
How do they expect us to ever get rid of the backlog?
& to top it off, they aren't allowing vans to use the tips now. (which is all I have whilst my car is being repaired)

After Xmas they left two of neighbours' bins full as the lids weren't fully closed and this 'extra weight represents a heath and safety risk to their operatives'.
One of my neighbours put the wheelie bins in his van but was turned away from the tip (as he had a van) so he had to take it to work and dispose of it there.
He has sent them an invoice for his trouble
Councils are basically thieves taking our council tax and doing f**k all with it. Full of jobsworths and little Hitlers that wouldn't know a day's work if it bit them on the ****. When I used to recruit for my IT department any CV that had someone working for a local authority went in the bin. They would be poor at their job and lazy... every time! And then there are the elected councillors.... even more of a waste of space!

That's ridiculous, I know they leave the stuff that isn't in the wheels bin but I've never heard of them leaving the wheels bin full aswell, how can they possibly do this if its in the bin and the lid is down then surely I that's what you pay for and they must fulfill their contract???

Ours have always taken extra bags, when I moved into my house, I had a full wheelie bin and 7extra bags of rubbish from the move - packaging and boxes mainly. I just asked next time they were collecting if they could take them and they said to just leave them out and they'd pick them up. I guess each city council works differently.

Ring the council and say your bin has been missed they should send someone out to empty it i used to be a bin man and came across this all the time 9/10 we just used to throw the bags in aswell as it was easier than faffing about with stickers bit odd they didn't empty the bin as we used to have to empty the bin but leave bags with stickers on do u have litter pickers around your closes/roads if u ever see one sort them a bit of money 5-10 pound to take some stuff away from yours and take they're number always at the end of the phone then if you need stuff taking away I had a phone full of different people who used to ring me to take stuff away for them was a nice little cash in hand bonus lol I miss that job sometimes but not when it rained ha

we have a collection every week,1 for general rubbish and 1 for recycling
our recycling bin was full of glass/plastic and tins from xmas so the inner tray for cardboard wouldnt fit in so i just left it on top of the bin lid ready for collection.
they didnt take it as it wasnt safe yet all they do is wheel it over to the wagon and lift the tray out
councils are just like the corrupt c**ts that run this country

Another thing about it that has annoyed me is we have a wheelie bin because we are semi detached. It's a very small bin that's smaller than the recycling bin for some reason.
The next door neighbours don't have a wheelie bin so they don't have a limit to how much they can put out.

As you say.
Ours take anything, full wheelies with lids that won't shut, extra bags not a problem

regarding the 'van ban' -- this is aimed at commercial rubbish. My local council would still let me dump domestic stuff : give it a try
or
ask your new 'bin-less' neighbours if you can leave your extra bags with theirs...!

A lot of people were in the same boat.
Appparently we were all told in the local magazine, which we didn't get.

We get a flyer every year with all the collection dates on??
With regards to using vans at the tip, you can apply for something like 20 tickets online for taking domestic rubbish to the tip.

I find a fiver in their Xmas card works well for a few months. Ours are a cheery lot and usually helpful. We are also lucky as we have an old lady next door and I usually pull her bins out to the roadside and she leaves plenty of space free.

Do what I did...tell them to get it gone. If they refuse, tell them that the next day you will be dumping it in their foyer at Town Hall, (or wherever), watched and recorded by BBC and ITV regional news.
They mentioned a fine for fly-tipping, I mentioned that ITV and BBC had offered to pay it.......
They emptied mine.

Just report your bin stolen and get another, then you have double the amount of space for rubbish. There are a few down my street that have two bins that just leave them staggered and some that have their house number on in 10" numbers and leave them side by side and never have issues.
