It's quite difficult if you've no family/ atheist
Stick with it though , it's not compulsory
I'm presently contemplating February visit to Melbourne.
May first foot Scots mate.

I'm not a fan of either xmas or New year eve either.
Never liked it as a child either, just thought it was waste of time / over hyped / lot of people getting stressed over nothing really.
I do feel sorry for those that have kids as it seem to get start earlier every year and probably means less to kids now and a lot more expensive than it used to be.
I've used the time off to re paint my house.

It's not the same once you're older and don't have kids imo, but I've still sort of enjoyed it. Not the run up to it, but I've enjoyed a bit time off with the ones I love.
I'll be glad when the ****ty weather is hopefully gone, and the dark nights. Here's hoping for a nice summer.

I think its just all too commercialised and as been for a few years, but I don't hate Christmas.
This year our family for the first time didn't go mad on gifts,we all agreed and we just couldn't be bothered with the gift buying side of it so much and I haven't missed it.
I actually think all the advertising months before is turning us off,i see Christmas items in the shops when it was Halloween, mad.
And as for New Year's Eve,well us Brits any excuse for a p1ss up,i feel rough as a dog.

Had a nice break from work, enjoyed seeing old friends and spending time with my family. Cooked up some great meals, didn't drink too much and got in a good amount of exercise (10 mile run later today). No need to go all bah humbug on it!

I actually like xmas because of the excitement for our kids and the time off. However, I hate the sickening level of greed and desperation of people in the UK at this time of year. ********* racking up the credit card and spending the whole of next year trying to pay for it.
The boring excuse of they "feel pressured into it".
As for New Year, a digit changes on the calendar, really dont see the fuss.

good riddance to 2013!!
you know how things happen in 3's ?
I kid you not but this is what happened at ours in 2013.
February. computer broke as did the washing machine. had to replace both.
march. engine died in my v6 Vectra
april both the iron and kettle broke, then at the end of the month, double oven packed up, had to have a new one, old one beyond repair
may. got a 3ltr lump in my Vectra
july. white van man wrote my Vectra off
September. tumble dryer broke. had to buy a new one
October. this was a good month, nothing happened
November. new iron broke then the microwave packed up!
on the plus side, every cloud has a silver lining, my accident money has allowed me to buy a Scooby!

Pardon me, as I'm only jesting.
No, I'm not sick of Christmas and new year at all. I'd rather them than the dark winter chugging defiantly until the sun ever shines again.
Happy new year to all, and cheer up, you miserable souls!
