I'd say that's a cracking price if it's as good as they suggest.
I have friends here who build their own electric bikes, four bikes built so far, and these cost over £1000 each. However these are serious bits of kits and can do around 30mph without (over 40 mph with) assistance and a range of 50-60 miles.

Can't see the point personally as I use my bike for leisure / fitness and therefore want to pedal it. Even if commuting it would be from a fitness perspective, otherwise use the car, less likely to get killed by a half asleep trucker.

A lady on our road has an electric assisted bike, she loves it, she reckons it will keep her active and cycling well into her advancing years, because the motor takes the strain on the hills, of which there are many in these parts
I've had a couple of goes on it, and the motor is surprisingly powerful. It also only works when the rider is pedalling, a legal requirement apparently.
