Question

Can anyone identify this fish?

It's on a menu we want to translate into English, and we're sure as hell it ain't "frog fish" as the dictionary says!

Thanks all.

As "Lobster, shrimp, ugly f**ker" doesn't look so good on the menu, we're going to call it angler fish

Edit - no we're not. "Gastronomic circles, known as Monkfish". Now there's a name I recognise!

BTW, apparenty it grows up to five feet long!! Are you watching, Arron Bird?!

Bon appetit!

Yep, called an Angler fish as it uses the light on the antenae above its head to attract small fish, which it then eats.

I'm sure a Monkfish is something different.

It's a species of anglerfish. Monkfish are related to skate, ray and dogfish, and kind of look like a cross between a dogfish and a skate. The mouth on a monkfish is underneath, not on top. British rod caught record for anglerfish is about 95lbs I think.
