"Earlier on today, apparently, a woman rung the BBC and said she heard there was a hurricane on the way... well, if you're watching, don't worry, there isn't!"

Wife just reminded me she's on an early flight to Montreal out of Heathrow on Monday.
Do they ever cancel flights due to a strong breeze?

I hope she likes "sport" flying

Seriously though, in terms of winds, most modern aircraft will operate around the 30kt to maybe 40kt cross wind speed depending on size. After this, its a no go.

If the wind is blowing straight down the runway, you might see operations till maybe 50kts. It can cause delays, so I would check on the web on Sunday and Monday am. I guess most of the storm will be well north by Monday AM so you might get away with it.

Spent last week in Carcassonne , just out of reach all this ****e

God it was nice, in comparison . I suppose in my younger days I'd have relished the opportunity to go wind surfing with the wind

And you just know as soon as the wind stops it'll freeze

Hauling winds here in North Wales. My trees are looking manic. I've been out in the garden, and done my best to re-strengthen my fence. Fingers and toes crossed.
