Question

We are in the middle of building an extension. We have been ready for the brickies for the past two weeks, but it has rained EVERY DAY

They are planning to scaffold the entire house and tie tarpaulins to it so that they can work in shelter if it continues to rain. The guy assures me that they have done this before, but it sounds a bit dodgy to me. Anyone tried anything similar? Anyone reckon I should tie a big rope to the house for when the tarpaulin decides it wants to be a kite instead of a shelter?

cut holes in the top of the tarpulin to let air escape - thus negating the kite effect.

Question

wouldnt that let the water in, if there are holes in the top, thusly defeating the whole point of the tarp in the first place?

They can use the mesh type material up the sides and just use tarps over the work area.

This will let the wind through, but will stop the rain.

A decent scaffold firm will do a good job and it won't blow away.

If its windy, it will be damn noisy at night

Cheers Pete - We currently have a roll of thousand guage DPM as a roof. Don't reckon the noise can get much worse. One of our neighbours thought there was a thunderstorm a couple of days ago. It was jsu the roof flapping
