be honest 8years inside is good value, if someone did my wife/daughter/sons any harm and got caught, i would wait for them and have no problem at all in dispatching them to where they belong,they lose all human rights imho when they commit a inhumane act, my father in law has allready been told to his face that if i ever get told by a doctor i have months to live, he will leave this planet before i do for what he has done in the past, pulling the trigger on scum is no worse than shooting a rat, bang say goodnight job done move on

If by think twice, you mean to then decide against doing something wrong/illegal then harsh punishments/death penalty still fail.

If having such punishments worked, then all those countries/states that still have them would have zero rates of serious crime. Sadly the crime still goes on, despite the 'deterrent'.

People will always take a chance, regardless of what the punishment may be, including the death sentence.

Do you know how many people have been 'put off' committing a serious crime through fear of getting the death sentence? No, nor do I, but I bet its quite a few. 100's of people are put to death each year, and the death of each of those means another scumbag removed from the face of the planet.

I suppose you're now going to give the human rights talk and tell me that all the murderers, paedo's , rapists etc have human rights / should be rehab'd / given a second chance etc?

Eradicate them. It won't solve the entire problem, but it sure as hell removes another scumbag from the Earth!
