I removed battery and SIM card, cleaned contacts on both, replaced them and it's working now.
What's that all about?
Modern phones are computers in svelte little packages. Fill up the memory or similar (usually done by dodgy software not by photos/e-mails etc) and they'll stop working. Without the "benefit" of a BSOD or similar.
By taking time removing power and cleaning contacts you've done a "hard reset" on it.
