Default PPI claims ( boring I know )

I've just got in from work , opened the mail and I've recieved a letter from nat west ( rbs)
It's from the ppi customer concerns team
Outlining procedures and reasons for claiming
And a case number and ref number
My quick initial thoughts were "scam "
But it all seems genuine and asks for no personal info other than my address and reasons to why I think I have been mis sold

The oddest thing is I no longer bank with nat west and haven't done for at least 7 or 8 years
I have had plenty of loans , cards , overdrafts with them
Over the years
But I've kept no records of them and have little or no paperwork
It just seems odd they're writing to help me get some money back

And I'm not savvy with owt like this so any help or advice is appreciated

do what i did just tell them you thought ppi was for buying things protection, you know the internet money back/dodgy goods situation, and would never of needed repayment protection in the event of job loss as your redundancy monies would of covered any debts, worked for me i got £2933.64 back from Lloyds

Yeah cheers mate , I'll be careful how I fill it in , my bro and his mrs have just claimed so I'll let them have a look , I'm useless with owt like this , and anything remotely financial
Hence total lack of paperwork
It has got two loan reference numbers on the back from 04/05 god knows what they were but I'm pretty sure it's long spent now lol
I'm sure it's not a scam now

I like the sound of that , what's an average payout , I'm assuming its dependant on loan amount

I Had a claim on credit card PPI with HSBC and gained £2500 back due to them missselling the policy.

same claim again with capital one they declined to accept a problem so handed the case to the Financial onbudsman services to which is still on going 9 months later

Apparently, part of the recent upturn in the economy has been due to people spending their PPI claim money. There's been an awful lot of it paid out.

Funnily enough I know someone else who mentioned capital one was reluctant to pay

Is it just an amount for compensation or balance related ?

the entire PPI paid plus 5% interest if I recall.

Capital one are difficult to deal with, I tried my hardest alone but had to admit defeat and handed it over to the onbudsman who say I have an excellent case which could take up to 12 months to sort out

I would be guessing but would estimate the loan amout to be 5 - 10 k
So what do you reckon you could expect to recieve depending if the claims successful of course

PPI on loans or HP is taxable and should be declared. Credit Cards refunds do not need to be declared.

I had the same letter in August , I just received my £6900 "goodwill gesture" payment

Prepared to be messed around though with validating signatures and waiting the full 28 days for payment

I'm not one for claiming, got a letter from Tesco, I replied, sorry I don't have PPI you've made a mistake.

They replied bad saying I do and enclosed a cheque for £1200.. ok then

Anyone know if Egg (Egg loans I think back then - would have been 2002 / 2003 isn) are known to have miss-sold PPI?

I did have a loan back then with them and I'm fairly sure I did have PPI on it, and was possibly miss-sold the PPI, so one assumes I could make a claim?

Given it's a fair few years ago, plus I'm in a different country and don't have access to any documents I might, but probably don't have (think I may have an email from them about password resets, or a question about the account), but cannot recall even the account number the loan would have had, what would be the chances of them paying out?

Where's the best place to start with this kind of thing?

True, but thought I'd ask here
email, would be nice but seems they don't exist and it's handled by someone else, who don't seem to publish an email address. I will try and dig further.

Right chaps just filling my ppi claim form in
And these are my reasons for a claim
They seem legitimate enough reasons to me
This is what I'm putting

(1) I was given the impression that if I did not take out ppi it would make it harder to obtain a loan

(2) I was not aware of the cost of the policy because I didn't know it incurred interest
Or was seperate to the loan

(3) I was not made aware you could cancel a ppi after 30 days

(4) at the time of taking out the loan's I had accident and injury cover with my employer and very shortly after went on to become self employed , which made the sale of a ppi to myself totally unnecessary

Opinions please folks

Was i the only person in the world who told them I didnt need protection as I didnt have them against my house.

When they asked what if you loose your job i told a white lie and said family would help me.

When infact if i lost my job the load people could suck it.

Ive since had about 6 loans with the last 2 being paid off this year and next year.
