2013 - unlucky year for you...?
has anyone else suffered a bad year with regards luck this year
so far one car has suffered a knackered gear box, the other one has had its injectors failing and out of the blue a cracked windscreen. Our washing machine has gone bang followed by the dishwasher and then the computer and an x box...
is it just me or is anyone else looking forward to 2014

Felix...NEVER EVER say stuff like that.
That's what i said as 2008 was ending. I then almost immediately slipped a disc that had me in screaming agony for 6 weeks, living off painkillers, dropped 23 lbs. Almost as soon as it got a little better I did it again, finally had to have the disc removed from out of my neck.
On the way home from a holiday that summer, the Scoob dropped it's bottom end in France, no European get-you-home, cost me £750 to get it to the UK, where, luckily, the RAC took over.
The engine was done for, took six months before it was on the road again. If it hadn't been for Harvey, it probably would have been broken.
So just never hope for a new year because it's going to be better.......

Few car issues and a couple of dodgy "white goods" hardly constitutes a disaster my eyes

Mine's been even so far. Great highs, followed by shocking lows. But going to finish the year on a high - whether 2013 likes it or not!!!
My wife is going through surgery in the next month. So's my car (!) The outcome of these WILL be good. I'm also 40 next month.
I face all issues head-on, so bring it on. B1tch
Edited to add - 2013? You're not feckin listening!!! (Spent the entire night in A&E with breathing problems and associated unpleasantness).

As others have said car and washing machine problems are not a reason to say a year has been bad. If you have your health and relationships intact then count yourself lucky.

I know some are going through terrible times and my heart goes out to you
But I must say my year couldn't be better, we had our first child in Jan (I have a 16 year old daughter from a previous partner) both are healthy and doing great, work could be better finances could be better but I'm spending every day with a massive smile that I feel will last another few months at least

2012 nearly made me throw in the towel due to depression and bad choices because of it. 2013 started very rocky but is definitely a better year as my confidence in myself has started to return and don't feel just quite as worthless.
Reflection is definitely the word of 2013 for me.

And no matter how much things go wrong or how down you get always remember tomorrow is a new day and you never know what's gonna happen
And you've got to be around to find out
Life is a wierd thing , things can go good or bad at the drop of a hat
Don't reflect , look forward , cuz that's were we're all heading , I've spent too much of my life reflecting and looking back already
And it's time for a change , look forward , think positive and good things will come

I've had a fairly good year really. Couple of lows but nothing too major. Also met my current lady-friend through an SN meet, and very lovely she is too!
Don't regret what you've done
Regret what you haven't done.
DEFINATELY something that applies to me this year!

My second worst year so far and can't wait to see the back of it but honestly if as others have said it's just car issues and home electricals you've had a good year compared to some!

Not the best year so far for us as we have lost two very dear friends in the past 5 months, both only in their late 40s as well and both lovely people.

I'm not comparing my bad luck to others who have suffered obvious greater losses and it sounds like people on here have had many personal tragedies this year which make my problems pale onto insignificance
I was just curious about any annoying little runs of bad luck which seemed to be more prevelent this year

Not a bad year for me in comparison. My Mrs admitted to depression after years of quashing it so our relationship is stronger now we deal with it better. Our son is 2 1/2 and a healthy, clever little boy. 4 year apprenticeship passed so in a qualified craftsman finally on the full wage at work.
Only downside could be possible heavy losses at work (Tata steel) after some really grim meetings last week with threats from our Indian owners. But that'll be next year and there's always contracting work if you get the right contacts I suppose
