Default Looks like BlackBerry is truly fecked now then...

Once the darling of Mobile Phones.... seems its truly fecked now...

over £1bn losses - 40% staff cut - how long before it goes under?

BlackBerry has lost its niche of 'email on a phone' when any tinpot device does this with ease now.... no one wants to carry 2 phones - business & personal....

I had a blackberry pearl. Fantastic phone, it's a shame they got complacent.

They missed the upgrade cycle 2-3 years ago, and lost a lot of ground on the competition, and have been playing catchup ever since. I've not used the new ones (nor know of anyone with one) but I hear they are pretty good, but not good enough to warrant moving to them.

Other than Blackberry Messenger there's no real USP. I wouldn't want to be holding any shares in them that's for sure.

Even Blackberry Messenger isn't a USP any more >>> http://www.knowyourmobile.com/blackb...e-date-delayed

RIM lost the plot ages ago and thought the Z10 might save it, but too little, too late, the new bigger Z30 won't chagne anything either. It's doomed.

They are being slowly swapped out though. My (very large) company has now swapped to Androids and iPhones.

You're right.

I can't see North Wales Police Force giving out Apple phones to their officers.

Anyway, I got the tail end of the Newsnight the other day. A learned folk seemed to be forecasting that after Nokia being 1st to go and then Blackberry as the 2nd one, it will be Apple on the third place to disappear for good. Apparently it will be completely eaten up by its competitors much sooner than we think. I'm sure Fandroids would have a hell of a disco with beers and pizza that day.

I'm an Apple fan, so a bit of a sad thing to look forward to. Apple bosses would have made enough money to feed their few forthcoming generations by then, so they won't give two hoots.

I miss my faithful blackberry, the samsung I replaced it with is awful in comparison.

I really miss the battery life, twice in the last month I've been stuck in tricky drunken situations with a completely dead phone. Never had that issue with the bb.

I've got a blackberry as a work phone, horrid thing, had it over a year now and still don't like it, much preferred the iPhone I had for a while.

I think it was the playbook that was the beginning of the end... They launched it where it could only be tethered to an existing blackberry... Madness

The blackberry for me was a useful device which served a very good purpose.

It did of course lack a lot of functionality that my windows lumia phone has.
However, the bb didn't need charged every day.

The only thing that can save Blackberry is to go to Android OS even if they slightly customise it however they will have to allow the Google Play market as apps is what sells phones and the Blackberry app store is pitiful. BBM is now available for Android and IOS and so there is nothing about Blackberry's OS to attract any customers. If they want to survive then Android is their only answer.

Probably a good way to go, but I never used any apps on my BB. Well made, good voice quality, four day battery, really nice cases. They did the basics really well. I also really liked the led that stuck out the top with notifications. I miss my old Pearl.
Blackberry has a future, don't try and copy everyone else. I don't want to hold a bloody tablet to my ear when talking to people.
