Default Scratch repair advice please.

Wifey had a little argument with a gatepost at work today. The scratch is slightly bigger than a 50 pence piece but goes down to the metal.
Are the Chipsaway guys any good. How would they tackle this repair - is it a case of spraying the whole panel or would they just tackle the actual damage. If they would go for the whole panel then i'll be taking it to a proper repair shop i feel.

The plastic if scuffed will NEVER look the same as the texture is knacked unless replaced I reckon, the paint (silver bit) needs a body shop if you keeping the car chap...

if you are selling/not keeping the car get chipsastray as the job will look pants after 3-6 months..IMO

Bodyshop will bake 2 pack lacquer and it will last years..

I was planning to replace the plastic.
The car is on a 3 year lease deal which is 3 months in so the job has to be good. I wouldn't normally consider chipsaway but it is quite small.

hmm - for such a small area, could you not touch it in, in several layers, over several days/weeks until it is the right level, then flat it down smooth very carefully with fine wet n dry & repolish?

Its a pretty small area - I reckon you could have a good go at it, even if it looks shat you can then call in the big boys...

Is it a solid white? - even better if its a solid colour.

It is solid white. That does sound like a good idea actually

I gather that the results from Chips Away and the like depend a lot on your local franchisee. I've had several jobs done with fantastic results, and that scratch certainly looks like the sort of thing I'd expect them to be able to tackle.

If it were me, I wouldn't bother trying to do it myself.

Never used chips away but the lad opposite me works for auto restore (same set up as chips away)
His workmanship is perfect...took a nasty dent out of a evo for me and painted bonnet and two wings.....started it at 6pm and I collected at 8 the following morning .....£100

£100!!! Absolute bargain, wish I could find someone like that near me. Especially bonnet as most don't like to tackle that at that sort of price.
