+1
Not just digs at other parents but her whole manner just seems a little inappropriate, a little hysterical and melodramatic. And so as you and Hodgy have pointed out the daughter probably behaves in the same way.

Brilliant. That's how it should be done.
My daughter got a 32" LCD with all the goodies this year when I found a website having a closing down sale ( I bought x 2). I purchased a swinging bracket for it, hung it up and connected Apple TV Tobit until I got up the ladders to fetch through a coax. My 7 year old daughter the day later decided that she would try out some new choice sentences on me that she must have learnt from her so called friends, impulsively I went upstairs with me SnapOn and removed the tv and installed it in my younger sons bedroom
The only way to get through to a disobedient/rude child is to take away things that matter to them. Shouting and even physical punishment does not work, it makes you a bad role model and creates more of a monster. I'm a manager of people at work, I see it all day long in adults too.
When I was a child I recall being grounded with no toys, given lines, and belted. Did it work, hell yes! Although I wasn't scared of the belt! It was the peering out of the window with my mates playing out while I do lines that made me pull into line.

I’m not your friend. I’m your MOTHER. And I am here to give you the boundaries that YOU NEED to become a functional responsible adult. You may hate me now….. But I don’t care. Its my job to raise a responsible adult..not nuture bad habits in my teen age child.
