A month ago I sold on some speakers that I bought but decided not to fit; they were brand new...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1211580725...84.m1587.l2649
Posted out a month ago to an address in Essex and today I got a message that says...
Buyer now appears to be in Malta and not Essex. I've asked them to clarify what the mean by 'sound is not coming good' and also th qualifications of their installer but I suspect at best I'm going to get back a complete bag of **** in a smashed up box with cut and bodged cables - at worst a paypal case and money taken off me with nothing returned.
Any ideas what I can do to protect myself from this as these speakers were brand new as you can see in the pictures on the listing. If I get back a bundle of chopped wires, missing screws etc am I being picky if I suggest a partial refund

Ask for them to be returned using a signed for service in the conditon you sent them. I suspect you won't see them back. They are probably hoping you will partially refund some money without asking too many questions.

After a month? Sounds like there trying it on, partial refund!!!

This is why you should stick guaruntee stickers over screws and use smart water to id your equipment. Is a favourite trick of pikeys to buy something the same as you already have that is broken, then swap them say they are broke and send them back for a refund
free replacement stuff!

free replacement stuff!
If you never fit them how do you know they DID work 100%, they may have been faulty and sat in the box, you cant prove they did work as you never actually used them,
the buyer may not be a scammer.

If they had contacted me within a few days then I would have been a little bit more willing to accept this, but after a month I'm a bit more sceptical. The items where posted 1st class recorded so they would have been delivered in a couple of days despite Royal Mail's tracking having never been updated.
what not to say the guy not had time or money to fit them yet and has taken a month, find out how long they been fitted, problem is ebay and paypal will favour with him, they always do which does my head in

True, but equally the listing never said that they had been tested, only described as unused, and secondhand good come with no guarantee.
I have offered to take them back and test them, and if found to be faulty I'll refund the purchase cost. I'll see what they respond with

Well, the scam unfolds...
The buyers has now discovered that the cone has detached from the frame, something that I can state catergorically was not the case as these speakers were physically perfect. But, having now exported the items that I listed for UK postage only, they either want me to pay the return postage costs from Malta for the damaged ones or pay someone they know to repair the speaker at £30GBP. When I asked for an estimate from a VAT registered Alpine approved repaired they stated that as they were now in Malta that was not possible - do they really think I am stupid

I'm sick of reading about sh*t like this! Surely you should be able to contact eBay and explain what's going on, then surely there's someone reading the email who has a half a brain and could tell the buyer to f*ck right off!
That's how I would run it anyway lol.
Hope you don't get shafted fella.

I've contacted eBay hopefully before the seller has to inform them about what is going on. The seller is so stupid that when they've left me negative feedback they have not only lied, but also ticked the positive box so I still have a 100% record
his location says malta, so why is he bidding anyways. i take it you set your selling rules to uk only?
you sent to an uk address? so how do you not know the 3rd person sending to malta has not damaged them? mention that on your case

Ive had a few try it on with me for stuff i have sold, mobile phones are a favorite. A couple of people have been that stupid that they claim never to have recieved the item until i point out that they signed for it. They then go rather quiet.
