Default Is 10 Billion pounds a lot of money?

I don't normally deal with numbers like this, so it's hard for me to say.
Some things are best left to our betters I suppose.

Well yes it's all relative of course, but I'd say it's is an awful lot for the square root of jack to show for it.

How about considering the opportunity cost;

£500M to build a hospital,so 20 hospitals) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_Elizabeth_Hospital_Birmingham)

£50M to build a school, so 200 schools (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/4952004.stm)

£1.2B to build a powerstation, so 7-8 (http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question...0131150AAcTfFB)

Most of the money would have been trousered by IT consultants.

Makes you wonder what they do all day? Endless compliance and audits of **** all?

Why hasn't this man been arrested!?

BBC seem to be relatively muted on this story.
Would have thought they would be right on top of QANGOs that waste public money.

Think that's a bit unfair on your typical IT consultant.

However, I know what you mean.
Those IT consultants you mean, would usually be found working for large management consultancy firms such as PWC/Deloitte's etc

About 3 years ago there was an hour long interview with a consultant who was doing a whistle-blower job on this subject & worked on a government contract that went over budget & was cancelled with massive losses.
He said they just ripped the pi** out of the public sector & that they would never get away with it if it was a private sector project.

Seems nothing has been learnt here...............again!
