Default Mouse/mice in kitchen?

Yesterday 5.30am, got up for work, flicked on kitchen light, went in the cupboard to get the coco pops out and from behind the box ran a mouse. I froze as it casually dropped onto the floor and scurried behind the washer. Upon further inspection it had indulged on my buttered croissants and salt and vinegar crisps.

Today the hunt began, under kick boards and behind washer found numerous mouse droppings and holes in the floor boards, I've filled the holes with expanding foam and wire wool combo, placed traps loaded with peanut butter under there as well.

Also had to give under the bath the same treatment.

Can I deal with this myself or do I need to call the pro's?

I live in a terraced house and next door are tramps can I report them to anyone?

Get a cat. A mouse can squeeze through a gap the width of a pencil so its hard to stop them. A cat in the house helps. Big ginger or tabby cat tend to make the best mousers.

They wouldn't probably be there unless you're feeding them

Not a fan of cats, plus have a dog who hates cats, yet he doesn't seem to fussed about mice

If your neighbours have mice, it will be very hard for you to get rid of them tbh

We had this problem as the weather turned a couple of years ago, a little bit of chocolate on a mouse trap placed strategically and you should start to catch them

Poisoning the little ****** is fine but then he'll go and die, then rot and stink under the floorboards or some other really awkward place.

Nah. modern rodent poisons make them thirsty so they go out looking for water. once they drink it activates the poison and kills them. Just make sure they have no access to water in the house.

Il see how the traps go and if I don't have any luck il go for some poison then, any specific brand I should be looking for or they all do the same thing?

And can I re-use the traps or are they a one time thing

We had mice one time and they liked the fat that was left in a pan after cooking bacon, it was how we found out we had mice as we noticed the foot prints in the grease We tried humane traps and they didn't work even with chocolate in them so we cooked up some bacon and put some proper traps out near the pan and bobs your uncle three dead blind mice

Possibly but I used poison for rats in my shed and one died under the floorboards. The stink was horrific.

The old fashioned classic mousetrap is good for a 100 mice or more. Just change the cheese now and again

Try chocolate spread or even peanut paste on a trap much better than solid stuff. Also throw some crushed garlic cloves around, they do not like it.

Get a quality rat tap rather then the smaller mice traps
More powerful and you can put bigger bait in them
Don't recomend you use poisons in house as pointed out above they will die and stink in the house
Humane traps are ok if your a bit squeamish and then release them in the wilds

Had mice in my fishing shed eating my bait so loaded two traps up every night for three weeks, two dead mice every time... That's 42 of the ******* things.

Tried all sorts of fillers etc for cracks and holes but just settled with storing my bait at a friends house.

If you have a dog I wouldn't use poison as if your dog finds a poisoned mouse & eats it it won't be good. Traps can work as can a good cat but if you are super clean leaving no crumbs & sealing all your food in plastic containers then they will stay next door where there is more food. We've got a cat & 2 Chiwawa/Jack Russell crosses & between them the mice don't stand a chance.

Sometimes you have to befriend your enemies for your benefit, you know. Explain that to your dog as well, and get a fat cat. Mine is superb. He kills not only the mice in the fields around us, but also the spiders, moths, flies and daddy longlegs when they come inside our house. Even our thin cat is a killer cat. Can't beat a cat tbh. Very useful animal.

Anyway, that's just a yappy dog with a terrible coat, needle teeth and bulging eyes on a dwarf body. Does my head in. Might as well get a rat for a pet.

Cat is the king of all the pets.

Oh right. I thought regardless of whatever size it might be, it could be potentially lethal as a wild one.
