I've just been hit up the rear end
#1
Hi guys -
Time to ask the wise people of Scoobynet some advice me thinks.
I was driving the tin top home from work, which is a V reg new shape Nissan Micra (before you all wet yourselves with laughter the Micra is my A-B car, I've got a Caterham for fun).
I'm stopped in a traffic jam and next thing I know I hear this bang and a young girl had gone into the back of my Micra in her old (D reg) Mini. After being a good samaritan and making sure she was OK, I looked at the rear bumper and there's some really small paint scuffs, that's about it. The gap between the bumper and rear door looks fine, the bumper is still on solid. I guess where the Mini is so low, that it went below the main part of the bumper and the fixings behind.
I guess that there's not a lot behind the bumper as the bottom half of it just waggles and I can run my hand easily behind it without touching anything.
The poor girl was so apologetic, she came across as really upset about it all. I asked her what had happened, she said her foot had slipped off the clutch where her shoes were wet. She said she had only been driving 4 months.
I kinda feel really sorry for her as I know what starting driving is like - insurance must be a nightmare for 17/18 year olds. So, I said to her that I'd look at the car and decide what to do, and if there's only damage to the paint, we'd sort it out ourselves, rather than getting her insurance involved. I've got all her personal details and insurers name, but I'd kinda like for it not to come to that.
Am I being silly or should I get her to claim on her insurance to cover myself from all eventualities? The girl seemed so pleasant that I was half tempted to say there and then that she should forget it - I bought the Micra as an A to B car that I can use and abuse, and the Caterham for fun.
The dirty old man in me says get her to take me out for a few beers and call it quits - she was really cute
Any advice guys?

Take it down a paint shop type place and get them to check it. If i hit someone then id hope we could sort it with cash. If someone hits me ill screw them for every penny lol. Im just being honest but if shes fit oooerrrrr missis it needs sorting out over a pint me thinks, just let her leave the carpark first.

Thanks for all the advice guys. Yes, she was fit (and really cute with it). The fact she was so pleasant and apologetic made things 10 times better.
Being a use and abuse car, I hardly ever wash the thing, so I gave the rear bumper a quick clean so I could see the scuffs - I think they will T cut out, and like I say, the bumper doesn't appear to have moved, all the panel gaps seem fine.
I might suggest that she pays for a bottle of T-cut and some cloths, and if she feels bad about the incident, she can buy me a pint too (with special emphasis on the pint rather than the T-cut!)
She's definitely the sort of girl I'd think "cor, wouldn't mind her phone number" if I saw her out & about, but this wasn't really the method I had in mind!
Cheers for the advice chaps - and it's good to know that you lot all thought along the same lines as me - get a beer & some favours out of it, and forget it. Doubt I'd be feeling the same way if some 18yr old bloke hit me! (Of course, if she'd rear ended the Caterham I would have wanted blood!)

Let her off.
So long as she allows you to return the compliment
Rear ended did you say
warning tho....I let someone off once, just nudged me from behind, looked at the car it was fine, told him not to worry,so we drove off......then noticed my exhaust was nockin like ****
it took most of the little nudge,25 quid to have it re-set

Now what would be really funny would be if she buys you a drink, you get a bit close and end up married. What a think to tell the kids, "me and your mum met when she rear ended me".

You lot all have disgusting minds. I can't make a perfectly innocent comment about being rear-ended (snigger) without it being warped into innuendo.
Of course being pure and innocent, I haven't got a clue what you're all on about (cough, splutter)

Edited to say: thanks for the advice about the exhaust Yoza, after it happened I drove home down the M3, didn't sound any different from normal.

You never know she might have seen you in traffic for the last month and only banged into you so she could give you her number!
You now need to cover the scraps with a bumper sticker saying something like "Hit me here is you want sex!" ?

Popped into a bodyshop on my way into work today. I've got to wait for the actual estimate to be faxed through, but the chap said it's going to be between 200 and 250 quid, remove bumper, smooth it out, respray and refit.
Hmmm, I think she's going to be receiving some bad news and I'm not getting that drink out of her.
Cheers for all the help and advice guys,
