Selling private plate
Hello
My wife has asked me to sell her private plate as she would rather have the cash
I can sell on Ebay or somewhere similar, but has anyone done this before, and if so do you have any sample t's and c's you have used ? Did you include DVLA fees in the sale price ?
Thanks in advance
Dave

The only easy way to do it is to apply with the dvla to put the plate on retention prior to sale/advert, Which will cost you around £80 plus there may be a £25 admin fee also, Your car will get assigned its original number, This way when you come to sell it you can just sell the retention document rather than do after it has sold as this opens up a lot of problems with documents on both parts having to be sent off etc...The new owner would then only have a £25 fee to pay to become the new owner and with it being on retention already they dont have to pay the transfer fee to assign it to their vehicle.
