School Summer Holidays..End of The 6 week Break?
It's been in the news that the 6 week summer break could be a thing of the past.
It might stop bored kids getting up to anti-social behaviour during the long break.

The summer should be 4 weeks, abandon the 2 weeks for Easter, get rid of half terms.
These measures would help the kids no end, and also their results and life chances ..... of course it would not suit Teachers one bit - so, it probably won't happen.

We'd usually be subjected to a couple of weeks in the caravan with the parents but aside from that we were free to roam. We had video games, admittedly not a patch on what's around now, and if the weather was sh*te we'd either be round a mates or they'd be round ours huddled round a ZX Spectrum or C64 hooked up to a 14" TV. If the weather was good however we'd be out building a den, playing footy, or fishing. Probably wouldn't see us from after breakfast until tea time. No mobiles either so parents had no clue as to our whereabouts (though I suspect they had a pretty good idea).
I'd say keep the long break for the sake of childhood memories No excuse for boredom though
