Immigration - Help
My cousin has arrived from the US this morning @ 8am on a 6 month Visa.
Immigration @ Heathrow have been questioning here since she landed...I think when questioned she panicked and said something wrong..she is young, i think 19.
Questions around where is she staying etc and why is she here for so long..
we have no idea what is happening - called immigration they cross questioned us..and said they will come back to us..
anyone know if anyone has been through anything like this..is there anything that can be done..or is it a wait and see what they decide..?

after checking on the net..that is most likely the question they asked! + i guess who is providing food \ support etc...
she was just staying over - nothing planned in particular. Visiting as we dont get to see each other much..
i think it was noted she was a student too..but she has finished her studies..
is it a bad sign that she has been in there for so many hours?

Happened to my business partner's wife (before she was his wife)... they asked her a lot of questions and then contacted us and we were able to match her answers exactly (as they were the truth) so they eventually let her in.... it was touch and go though!

Lawyers or the American Embassy would be a good idea, but she'll be gone by the time you can contact one!

Would have thought you would have been at the airport to meet & greet?
might have stood a better chance of bona fides?
So'k we'll find out the true story when the next season's border patrol is aired

I spoke to immigration.. ! *****!
2 calls i made, first questions they asked, am i her boyfriend!
Normally you do not need a Visa if you are coming from the US to the UK - but as she said her stay is 6 month - her response (panicked response did not match those of the people they called to confirm..
they said she needs a visa as all these questions are asked in the US..

However on the return back into Manchester we had to wait in a queue for what seemed like eternity, but I did notice the immigrants went through quicker via a signed dedicated route.
I'm thinking (while the Muppet on the desk studied my passport then looked at me then looked at my passport then studied me again) "if I don't get through here where the **** am I going to go", after all, I've only lived, worked, paid tax, national insurance in the UK all my life as has my father and my father's father etc.
They are just going through the motions making you think they are securing the borders while letting in all the non-white immigrants through the 'special' route.
Total inept organisation fecking over it's own law abiding tax paying citizens for the sake of being 'PC'.

Thy aren't usually ***** t be fair ... sorry to say, but her replies to their questions must have been inconsistent. We spend enough time on here moaning how they let anyone in so when they don't we also moan... scant consolation in this instance I know!

That's a fairly hefty and typial mis-representation of the facts. All 3 terminals at Manchester offer 3 times the number of EU passport lanes to the the non-EU. The non-EU appears to sometimes move quicker simply because there are a lot less of them than EU passport holders on most flights. Anyway if you have a chipped passport you don't have to wiat at all as I didn't today... except in Terminal 3 where they have no chip reader currently.

Obviously not going from how this thread has turned out. Just another case of moaning for the sake of it.

They cannot be waiting if they have a chipped passport.... waiting for what? FFS I was only there today and have used it at least 6 more times in the last 12 months and never had to wait once. Either stop making **** up to suit you own agenda or maybe you are the f**King problem, not anyone else
