yes they did OK, but you have to be there to be part of it..The last time I was at Glastonbury, it was Ian Dury, The specials, Aswad, joe cocker, misty and roots, The style council, The pogues, and many others, I can not remember....hehe... and I think the ticket cost £15. It has now become a national, marketing event, not a "CND , peace and love" festival .. as it was, ie "bunch of "hippy's jumping round in afield, creating trouble" lol .
I am a Bit surprised, there were no politicians there...........given all the TV coverage..

A lot of the bands were good but the R1 presenters were dreadful

I missed Stones, but saw two freaks last night being interviewed by Gastonbury TV hosts. They were both some midlife crisis goths, they had flared black shorts with black T-shirts on. Long hair, beard, forked tongue and whatever else goes with it. During 3-5 minutes of their chat with the hosts, one of them (the bossy one) stapled a cue card on his subdued partner in crime. I mean, stapled with proper staple gun! The victim (?) was bleeding, but carried on showing off. Then the bossy one stuck a mouse trap to his tongue! Then the bossy one put a fork up his nose, and licked it! That display was truly revolting.

I thought they were great. Mick's singing has always been only average, but the musicality was top drawer. Loved the long guitar solo's, Mick Taylor on midnight rambler, the choir on YCAGWYW.
It's great to see professionals at work. People who know what they are doing. It's also great to see a group of old friends having fun. Charlie seemed to be loving it, and Bobby Keys on sax (born the same day as Keith btw).

Started watching them and then got sucked into Public Enemy (well 30% of them lol) who were epic (apart from Chuck D ranting on too much) until their set was cut short Davy Dmx on Bass smooth and sweet

I'll catch up with the rest of the Stones later

Yes the Stones were good, but they weren't as great as everyone from the BBC would have you believe, the main stage has seen better. The band before them for instance

Public Enemy would have been better with Flav I think, he used to take the edge off Chuck's rants.

Thought they were good, never really seen them live before but like their music. Would have loved to be there but the kids have put paid to my Glastonbury attendance for the foreseeable That said I stopped going after becoming a bit disillusioned with it all after a rather wet 2007 and the debacle of combined festival and coach tickets (only ones we could get). It's a shame the Beeb couldn't show the whole set for whatever reasons as some of the stuff during the first half of the set I'd have liked to see/hear e.g. Paint It Black.

I did have this thought that they should be one of the bands that I should make an effort to see live before it's too late but then I'm not sure I'll get the opportunity. Depends if they tour again after this one and assuming they're all still going

Wish I could have seen Pink Floyd live but the passing of Rick Wright will I suspect prevent them doing any further live stuff and I'm not sure it would be the same anyway I did see Roger Waters at Glastonbury and that was pretty good.

The been didn't show the whole set because the stones wouldn't allow it. Fair do to them. Led zep still won't release their live aid set.

After reading some comments on here, I caught up with public enemy on the I player....excellent., as is the bbc digital coverage.

I thought they sounded great and were very entertaining, but I found it pretty difficult to see past their age, they just looked so old. Perhaps that says more about me than them!

It was indeed 2002. First year they had the super fence. Hard to remember who I saw when etc., kind of all blends into one. Suspect the cocktail of drugs and alcohol regularly consumed at said festival doesn't help

Was it worth £205 for a ticket?

I suspect the cost of a ticket to a Stones gig would be upwards of £100 on it's own so take that plus the hundreds of other acts you get at Glastonbury & I'd say it's excellent value for money....

They just need to find a way to stop it raining

It's funny how everyone remembers the rain, but I bet the sun has shone more often than it hasn't

Paid £120 IIRC in 2002 and probably saw 40 bands I would have paid to see so superb value, as was the Inflatable pink sofa at £15

Got a good colour that year, it only started raining on Monday lunchtime when we were finally evicted.
