Looks like we are going to get a free trade deal with America Hopefully that will end all unexpected customs charges when buying stuff from USA

Muahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Not in your lifetime.

Customs charges from us to THEM...maybe.

Don't forget that THIS is the country that used to try and limit what we could bring back from the EC, even going so far as impounding cars full of booze...until a daily paper got on their case.

It's the EU which stopped us having a trade deal in the first place. In order to join the EEC, we had to abandon free trade with a number of English-speaking democracies.

The United States and Canada now form a single market, as do Australia and New Zealand. The US and Australia signed a Free Trade agreement in 2005, and New Zealand is currently negotiating one. Singapore’s 18 FTAs include treaties with the United States, Australia and New Zealand. But Britain and Ireland are unable to join in: we gave away the right to sign bilateral free trade agreements on 1 January 1973.

If that is so, how are we getting away with signing this one?

It's with the entire EU, not the UK

So we sign a joint one??.
As part of the EU (the world's most powerful trading block) the extra clout will give us better terms.

There is also.
NAFTA
G20
Cairns Group
APEC

World trading blocs. Thats the modern world...................except for the flat earth society who want us the leave the EU and go it alone. The US wouldn't even give us the time of day.( They might send Hilary, if she was free)
