Default Omega Seamaster

Whilst I'm not a great watch collector, I do have a fondness for the Seamaster range. I recently made a new purchase - a Chronograph to go with my old Chronometer and even older 60's gold Seamaster. It's a lovely looking watch but a bit on the thick side and it has plenty of weight.

I love the Seamasters too. I have a very small wrist 6.4" so a Planet Ocean just doesn't sit well on me.

I'm hoping to buy a 2011 Omega Seamaster 2220.80, with the 2500D movement by the end of this year. Discontinued now, but the 2011 last version is the only one with the upgraded 2500 movement, plus I'm not a fan of the new Seamaster with the ceramic bezel and gloss dial.

Nice! Is that with the upgraded Co-Axial movement but with the wavy face? A rare beast if so.

Yeah correct. I was watching one on eBay a while back and it was removed after 2 days, so someone must have made an offer to the seller quickly. It's the one I'm prepared to wait for though.

Any idea what price it made, or what the bidding reached?

Looks very familiar, mines the larger size than yours I think. Love mine, last watch I'll ever buy, had it ten years now, just had it serviced and cost more than my car does for a service.

I've seen an older 2007 "like new" condition model go for £1,690 and another go for £1,280. Also seen a 2009 "like new" condition model go for £1,455.

The later 2011 was on with a buy-it-now price of £1950 or best offer, so I don't know what exact price it went for. You can tell if it has a 2500D movement because the serial number has to be higher than 852xxxxx and the number 10 in the date window is different.

Also I've noticed that the black ones usually sell for less.

The quartz battery ones all go for less too, the ones I'm referring to were all automatic.

Of course, although I can appreciate the "grab and go" appeal of a quartz. Personally, I wouldn't spend over £500 on a quartz watch.

Na, automatic all the way. Us men an 'engineering' eh? Seems stupid as the quartz are more accurate but just don't have the same appeal.

Looks good, although I would say that lol

Mine has the Bond bracket and is full size - are you saying yours is oversize as in Planet Ocean?

I like these as well but never got one as in the back of my head I think I may as well pay a bit more for a submariner and get the benefits of the Rolex resale value. The trouble is then I think I may as well get a GMT master as they are the same price but the GMT has an extra complication.
