Whilst they continue to allow me to buy stuff cheaper than anywhere else and with the convenience of delivering stuff to me at work I don't really care

Essentially they are dodging tax on my behalf. Sounds like they've created quite a few jobs in the UK also. If HM Government want to close whatever loopholes they are using then so be it but I expect that we the consumers will bear the brunt of the cost.

Starbucks and the like I have no sympathy for as they just sell overpriced, luxury items and those that waste there money there are keeping them in business.

But at what cost? It makes it an uneven playing field, who knows, maybe HMV as we knew it would still be around if Amazon actually had to pay its taxes?

Perhaps they should have hired better accountants?

Guess its from the grants to build warehouse and distribution centres (which create jobs) in certain areas ?

Much as we all hate paying tax it is a necessary evil. There is already a shortfall (less from smokers, less from drivers driving cars exempt from road tax, less from high street retailers no longer trading). Without adequate tax revenue there is going to be a massive hole in the Exchequers finances.

Well, exactly...but haven't the revenue people ever heard the story of the Goose that laid the Golden Egg?

Because they are killing it.
