Premier Inns - fair play to them!
From time to time I stay in a Premier Inn. They are cheap, lacking in frills but you generally get a reasonable room and a good bed which if I am working and just need a night's sleep is all I am bothered about!
No point staying at The Dorchester if you coming in at 9pm dog tired and out again in the morning at 7am!
Anyway on Saturday night I stayed in a Premier Inn and was awoken by some total ar5ehole kicking the door as hard as he could... it was a wonder the bloody thing held to be honest. By the time I was out of bed and awake enough to go and find out who it was he was gone. Anyway I reported it to reception who said they would try and deal with it!
No other incident occurred, but as I left in the morning reception spoke to me and informed me that they had patrolled the corridor and heard this guy making a similar level of noise in his room. They had tried to speak to him and when he wouldn't calm down they called the police who arrested him and took him for a night in the cells before charging him with being drunk and disordely and breaching the peace. They also refunded all my charges there and then.
Whilst not the most pleasant night's sleep I can only commend the staff in the no nonsense way they dealt with it and then confirm the promise of 'a good night's sleep or your money back' is real and not just a marketing slogan!

Agreed. I've stayed in a couple now with work and will keep doing so.
Apart from the frigheningly high number of Lenny Henry pics everywhere with his cheesy smile, they have everything I need for a one night stay.
Most are usually close to a garage or mcdonalds, so you will always have a bit of choice when it comes to food.

I agree that prices have crept up a little, but I'd rather pay a bit more and know what I am getting.
The one I stayed at in Yorkshire last month was great. The man at reception really wanted me to enjoy my stay and made it clear that if I was not happy in any way, then go and see him and he will either fix it or give me a full refund.

I like them; in fact we are in the process of buying a fair sized hotel and aim to use their "level" as a target. Simple, clean, efficient but easy on the eye.
I've had some terrible Travelodge experiences but always happy with Premier Inns.

I use them a lot for weekends as they come in handy for visiting various sailing venues around the UK.
The money back guarantee is enforced without question, I’ve even been embarrassed when they insisted on refunding my money because of some trivial comment I made when checking out to the point of nearly having an argument with them. Sadly however, I ‘m not sure how long it will last, as people are clearly abusing it. They pitch up at reception in the morning make up a complaint and get a refund. Last week near Grafham I watch a couple secure a refund, then upon following them out in to the car park, I heard the bloke gloating about how he never pays. Surely they’ll have a system in place that will identify such chav’s and bar them from booking?

Another vote for them, never had a bad stay at one, was in one last week in Edinburgh, £50 a night and it was excellent, the staff were great, the food was pretty good, the room was nice, a hotel where is felt like I wasnt being bent over, ok, work pay but I like to get good value and I dont take the pee, they let me spend prettymuch what I want as they trust me. Breakfast was the best I have had for a while, the tepid buffet is rarely tempting but theres was a cut above, actually hot, with hot plates, decent coffee and Plum Tomatoes, I load up on those, Mushrooms, Scrambled Egg and try to keep the processed meat content down.
I stayed in a DeVere at Nottingham Uni the week before and that was good as well, lovely new hotel, a bit more expensive but still not excessive, bar prices were like a pub as well.
The worst I have stayed in was the Raddison Blu in Birminham, £9 for a glass of wine, nothing fancy either, just house plonk, the place was noisy and getting grubby, the plumbing was like listening to Ping Pong all night, full of snooty air hostesses shreiking all night, food was grim, a room service Club Sandwich was so disgusting, even I, and I am not very discerning, couldnt eat it.

Oh, and a special mention for FlyBE, their fairly tired looking Dash 8 decided to fart out a Hydraulic pump on its way down the runway, back to the terminal, four hours later we take off in another plane, not even a complimentary drink. What a noisy thing they are as well, give me an Embraer every time.

Stayed at dozens of them with work too around the UK, they're all the same but you know what you're going to get and that'll it'll be clean and tidy and decent enough. Better than the other travellodge/holiday inn chains by far.

Yet another vote for Premier Inn. If I'm working away from home and it's a customer that I regularly visit then I'll have found a more personal place (such as a pub that does B&B and has half a dozen bedrooms). However if I need to visit some place I've never been before and don't have time to check all the available alternatives then the nearest Premier Inn is going to be a known good standard.
They are charging you(r employer) that much for alcohol because they need to cover the cost of what they give me.
Had I known you'd been staying in Nottingham, I'd have taken you to get a proper drink. I'm actually spending all of this week on the Nottingham Uni campus, just along from the De Vere you stayed in, luckily it's only a short drive home.
