A pain in my side
Since just before Christmas, I've been having pains in my right side which the doctors thinking I had a kidney stones gave me medication for and all seemed OK after a few weeks. Got a CT scan done and again all good.
But now everything I get worked up or stress out a bit my side starts to hurt in the exact same place as before. Whats more of a niggle is that the pain is exactly related to the annoyance/stress I'm under?
Any ideas? as my doctor is pretty sure I'm OK but I'm not convinced.

May be IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) Jamz, that is typically triggered by stress / anxiety. It does need to be medically confirmed though. Pain from kidney stones would be different to IBS type pain I would have thought? IBS is more like a spasm / cramping type pain.
Could be anything from trapped wind, to the other extreme mentioned above. Endured something similar for almost 2 years, tested for all sorts of things including bowel cancer, and all manner of things were eliminated, but there was no final diagnosis delivered. I was told I would have to learn how to manage or tolerate the symptoms. I tweaked a few things in my lifestyle and diet and now have it under control.

Could well be IBS as it can be triggered by stress, but the problem is getting this diagnosed. There is no actual test for it, so basically everything else needs to be ruled out.
If I were you, I'd go back to my GP and explain that this pain is still causing you problems and see what they think is the best course of action. I think that would be better than asking on here. If they agree it could be stress related, they may be able to help you manage it and see whether that eliminates the pain, before getting to the point of sending you for various tests.
Hope you get sorted.

Stress I think
Although the pain should really be in the chest rather then the side
Drink plenty of water or strong (not milky ) tea
Take plenty of exercise at work go out for a walk in the fresh air
Do you have dryness in the mouth ?
Any other pains in arm or legs or a cut that does not heal very fast ?
Headacres ?
Saw eyes ?
Have you had a heavy meal kebab ,chips pizza or garlic bread the night before ?
Recomend you change your doctor on a different visit as like on here they have different opinions or even a trip to A&E as they tend to have different checking procedures
I wasted a year in my life being wrongly diagnosed by a doctor and eventually learned more of the Internet before trying a different Doctor who had different ideas
I stil think it's the tv licence detector van man who has put a curse in your with a voddoo doll though

Cheers guys, another trip to the docs seems to be the order of the day.
The TV Licencing chap no longer writes letters to me after I rang up and explained my TV does not have a digital tuner and I don't have an aerial.

Not enough info and internet diagnosis is fraught with difficulties, but if the same pain as before and only recently had a normal CT scan, and under stress, by far the most likely is stress, especially if you are young, have no unintentional weight loss, no bleeding and no other specific symptoms which I'm sure you're doctor has been through.
It is a judgement between missing something and overinvestigating/feeding the stress/anxiety to know how far to take this.
Investigations are driven primarily by the history, and if your anxiety produces a series of new symptoms and then you expect to have all serious disease excluded then you're in for a thick medical file and a rather unhealthy amount of time and emotional energy investigating things. In this case, it is actually a good thing that the symptoms are the same and that you've had a very good investigation of the same in the form of a CT scan. Again, without full information, I can't remember missing an important diagnosis in a young person in an area of the body that had recently had a normal CT scan. Having said that, it is possible for renal tract stones to be passed and then new ones to form, so you could have had a CT when they were not there. A check of the urine for blood around the time you have pain if normal would reassure pretty well here.
There is also probably more info we don't have as a CT wouldn't usually be a first line investigation for suspected kidney stones. Have you in fact had quite a lot of medical resources going into this problem already and they have drawn a blank or do you honestly feel something is being missed?
Do not got to A/E with this unless the pain is severe and you think you have a life threatening emergency. It is the last thing that is appropriate there where you will usually be seen by a junior doctor who will be concerned to exclude an emergency and then return you to the more appropriate care of your GP who has full records of this. They will not be, and shouldn't be prioritising a diagnosis for a problem like this, merely excluding or treating a genuine emergency.
