Photography help
I have posted this in Photography but had no reply. It is a matter of some urgency.
WHICH BRIDGE CAMERA?
I am looking at buying a new camera and want to go for a bridge camera. The only camera I have at the moment is the one on my Samsung Galaxy S3. I have reduced the list of cameras to:
Fujifilm HS30EXR and
Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX200V
My question is, which of these are the best? Which is better for all round photography? I will be shooting everything from old buildings to action shots at motor race meetings.
Thanks
Martin

Bridge cameras will, bluntly, be a bit **** for action shots at motor sports events.
You'll need a DSLR and a fast lens for that.

The Canon SX50HS has a 1000mm zoom lens and Canon are doing cashback at the moment. which supersedes the SX40.
As said though you would probably be better off with a cheap DSLR.
Second hand EOS40d maybe?

The problem is my budget doesn't run to a DSLR with a set of lenses up to at least 300mm. Due to being in a wheelchair I sometimes struggle getting closer to the subject so need the convenience of a super zoom bridge camera even if it means a slower lens speed

Can only reiterate whats already been said with such a diverse range of subjects a Bridge camera just won't cut it you'd be better sticking to your s3.
The fixed lenses on bridge camera are fine for superior holiday photos but the fixed lens will do nothing but frustrate you when you get more serious.
There are some fantastic entry level dslr's out there you can have my old eos 300d for £150

The problem is that a lot of compact and bridge cameras have a long focal length and a fast shutter speed. At first glance that seems a good combination, but in reality it will only work in very bright conditions. The lens optics are just too small to gather enough light needed to operate at a high shutter speed. When I say too small, I'm talking about the diameter of the elements in the lens. If you look at the pro lens used by sports photographers you'll notice that they are long and have a large elements to gather the light. This won't happen with a bridge camera. IMHO get a second hand DSLR for a couple of hundred quid.

Have to agree with the 2nd hand DSLR route,
My first foray into that field, was a Cannon 100FN with 35-55 lens cost me £89
My zoom lens 70 300 cost about another £80...
My current camera Nikon D5100, cost about £500, and the zoom lens 70-300
was about another £140
However ther are loads of last years models in most good camera shops as exhange items , for a fraction of there new cost.
If i hadnt changed to Nikon, my current camera emporium, has Canon 200 /300 zoom lenses from £40 - £140 squid, coupled with a good body, and your well on the road
JUst looked...
The Fujifilm HS30EXR is about £250
The Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX200V is about £289
The Nikon D5100 (16mp) is now £399 with £40 cashback from Nikon, so £359, (and thats high street prices lol)
A D3100 (14mp) can be snapped up for £269 lol
Check Park camera's if you want some deals...

Tough call,
In terms of Megapixels the canon is way above the Nikon, and would get my vote.
Again in terms of Lenses.... Nikon enthusiast or entry level camera's put the AF motor in the lens... make them bloody expensive even SH
Only when you get to the bigger specced models do you get the AF built in.
I would check this out, (that said all the cannon lenses is see SH blow the Nikon out of the water price wise)
My First SLR was a cannon, I only changed to Nikon as i wanted somthing different.
Id go down the Cannon route,
You may find cheap lenses at a later date. the camera is fine
The nikon, as much as i like and own them, can be frustrating to work with from Raw files, and given its only 6Mp may leave you wanting if you start to zoom and crop

Thanks Mart.
The Nikon is on sale for £295 while the Canon I can get for £200. This means I could spend the £95 I would save on a 55-200mm lens which would leave me with a fairly decent starter kit for less than £300. Do you agree?
Regards

I'm a canon fan so I would always advise canon
Edit- I over looked the models , if I wasn't a canon fan I would recommend the canon everytime it's a later and better model in every context
