Possible I guess. The weblink on the site is for Big Animal who appear to be a design company no too far from where he apparently lives.

If its genuine, then that pretty epic.

Of course, like all internet "stories" and in true /b/ fashion...I demand proof its not a spoof.

It can't be genuine as who would take a laptop to a roof top to point a webcam at someone looking through a telescope?

The app allows you to take screenshots. The person was viewing their photos.

The innocent new owners of my laptop have been in touch and are mortified about the story and are keen to return the laptop.

Given the huge error of judgement on my part in sharing the story and failing to respect their privacy I have asked them to keep it by means of an apology.

what a load of bollocks, I doubt the new owners are that innocent as I bet they got it at some cheap price....

Does being branded as a thief in Iran have interesting consequences?

You would hope so, maybe that is why Dom *****'d out.
If it had been me, I would have asked for the SAS to storm their apartment, after all they have experience

I suspect his insurance company may be in touch as its now effectively been given away when it could have been recovered. If they've paid out, hes committed fraud.(technically at least).

What started at out as a crime against him..then a laugh might backfire on him .... need to be careful with this internet stuff.

That's not strictly true as it wasn't his place to recover it. Once the insurance has paid out then it's technically their property so worst case scenario for him is that his insurance company sulks with him.

The insurance company could recover the laptop from the new "owners" though as it was no longer his to give away.
