Angry Mattressnextday - What *****!

I bought a single Fimr mattress 6 months back - and this mattress was nice an firm..

I bought the same brand mattress in a double - and this mattress is soft as hell!

it flattens when i sit on it...specially around the edges..

I called them up..then sent "Home Serve Out" to inspect - they got me to sit on the mattress and took a picture.

Report when back to mattress next day stating "Mattress was pressure tested" and there is nothing wrong with it..!

I called up Mattress Next Day - spoke to a manager who refused to listen or even put any questions forward to "Home Serve" and that there decision is final..wtf?

He was also unable to advise what Home Serve's testing process \ procedure is.. I mean pressure testing with the customer sitting on the mattress..really!!!!

Mattress is not fit for purpose, i have back aches..

Any one got any idea's of what i can do?

Get your credit card company to do a chargeback, they'll soon be back in touch with you for their mattress back

i dont think a charge back will work - as goods have been delivered and they have done an interdependent check on the mattress - stating

ON CLOSER INSPECTION I HAVE FOUND THAT MATTRESS IS FINE I HAVE
DONE PRESSURE TEST AND FOUND THAT MATTRESS IS NOT SOFT NO
FAULT FOUND.

But they are unable to tell me what or how they pressure tested - as the guy had nop tools - and he said he was going to go find a showroom to go compare the mattress too!

It is possible that its been a wrong label put on a matteress in the factory /warehouse or even shop if it was an ex display one
Why have you just noticed now after 6 months
Should of been really reported in 3 days after delivery if you suspect it was different to the single
What sort of price were they both

Foam
Sprung
Pocket sprung

Only way to fight it is to get an independant inspection by a qualified upholsterer and then small claims court but too much is against you I'm afraid

Home serve probably charged £80 for the man to take a photo of you on the matteress and are about as qualified as I'm a surgeon .

Seems the single will have had a 12.5 gauge spring in it and the double 13.5 gauge resulting in the disparity in feel. The former is the accepted orthopaedic spring although nowadays they attach the orthopaedic moniker to everything.
When I was working in mattress manufacturing we actually stripped a mattress down for a customer who was in the same situation as you. We were able to categorically prove that one mattress not only had an inferior spring but less padding also. A written report with accompanying photos ensured that customer not only got a refund but some compensation for his hassle. Our charge was only that he bought his mattress off us.
