I think I will need to wait until the end to see the full picture ...

On a serious note, I still think this is a witch hunt that will ruin the reputations of people based on allegations from 20 or more years ago.

Sometimes I hate being so cynical.

But I can't help wonder that if a law was introduced that prevented people maiking claims for financial compensation for any upheld accusations, then would the number of allegations drop?

Don't get me wrong, some of these allegations are true. But I can't stop thinking that some have ulterior motives.

I am of the same option. This is now causing a ripple effect and much will be proven to be "band wagon" jumping.

There are some very sad and tragic cases going on and these should be acted upon, but I am getting a little cynical to. The BBC bloke De'Ath was innocent but was vilified as soon as he was arrested.

You'd be hard pressed to find a better example of shutting the gate after the horse has bolted.
Overcompensation by the police for not doing their job properly in the first place.
Maybe they should be arresting a few of their own for that - make an example to prevent a repeat in the future.

They can't name him for legal reasons but it is easy to imagine who it is.

If people are acually guilty of that kind of behaviour,it is a good thing that they are caught.

IF, Les, if.

As much as I abhor the sort of behaviour of Savile / Glitter et al, I really think the suspects should been give the same anonymity as the complainant until such time as a conviction.

The police will be following up everything that gets reported for quite some time, their apparent ignorance to Saviles activities over such a long period of time with seemingly so many victims, collaborators, long held suspicions and repeated accusations is a disgrace. They'll want to be seen to be doing everything they can with every lead they get and to hell with ruining a possibly innocent persons life.

You might not want to know what Harry Corbett did to Sooty and Sweep. Also, it wasn't called Blue Peter for nothing.

Yes you are quite right and that is why I used the word "if". No name should be published until he has been tried and convicted.

It is certainly wrong to speculate who it might be.
