Default Any experiences of purchasing Private plates

Looking to buy a private plate and seeking advice from those in the know. There appears to be many online companies offering the same reg numbers so I guess these are all agents/middle men?
Anyone got any any advice on where to buy from and what the turnaround to get the actual plates is please?
I guess the log book has to be amended and received back prior to fitting the plates?

Help.

Thanks

Nick

I think you buy the plate, pay approx £80 transfer fee then change documents etc (tax, insurance and v5)

I generally use the dvla select or their auctions, this is mainly due to the fact I once purchased a plate from the dvla, then I decided to check out the price and availability with another registration company. They said it was available and cost twice as much as the dvla

Go DVLA, their price includes transfer fee whereas others don't. I fell into this trap and ended up paying more than necessary

They post a document out to you then you have to go to your local dvla and fill out a transfer form
Give them your mot abd v5
10 mins latter youll have a new v5 and mot plus new tax disc
Pkus a letter to hand over to any company to make the plates

Just remember to let your insurance no that you have changed the reg

I forgot the first time i bought one

i got my plate from a dealer oddly enough cheaper than it was advertised at the dvla.
everything was included i.e transfer fees etc all i had to do was pop in my local dvla and get the paperwork sorted.

Thanks
