Question

Hello

Whats the best replacement front pads/discs for a fiesta (1.25 zetec)?

Obviously it doesnt require performance stuff but original ford parts are circa £80. What is a good cheaper patent part that isn't made of chipboard? Or is it best to stick to Ford parts?

Cheers

Wink

Easiest nationwide place to get some would be Halfords...
They do the Ferdoo pads I think they are called which are above budget level and reasonable..

There are cheaper places, get the yellow pages and look under Car Parts...

I used to have no problem with pattern parts on fiestas and pugs etc...

ernie

Are you refering to fronts only?
Need to know what year your vehicle is and whether it has solid or vented discs.

Just as a guide for OE replacement front discs and pads, for a car built between Nov.'95 and Jan.'00:

SOLID DISC APPLICATION:
Brembo discs 08.6903.10 £22+VAT for pair
Ferodo Premier pads FDB1082 £16+VAT for set

VENTED DISC APPLICATION:
Brembo discs 09.6727.30 £24+VAT for pair
Ferodo Premier pads FDB1081 £22+VAT for set

There are loads of brands available in the market, many are cheaper. It depends on what you want.

Mail me if you want any more info. - might be able to suggest a supplier near you.

Cheers

Rich

Hello

Thanks for the replies

Rich, those prices seem very good for Brembos. Is that the normal RRP or is that some special price ? If that is the Joe Public price, is that from any Brembo stockist? Would Halfords do them? Or someone like "A1 Motorspares"?

Thanks again for all the replies

P.S. car is an "R" plate and its just the fronts (solid). Although while I'm asking , if the cruddy rear drums need overhauling, whats a good make of shoe. Dont say "Gucci"

Hi ernie

I quoted what I believe to be a rough guide price (not my special price )
Some suppliers will charge more, some less.

Being such a popular car, these discs can be manufactured in very high volumes, which helps bring the price down.
This particularly true as Brembo, for example, manufacture these discs on behalf of other manufacturers as well as for themselves.

I'm not sure if Halford's or A1 Motorstores do them, but they don't, I'm sure someone local to you will. Ring around - that's probably the best bet.

Alternatively, mail me off-line if you want more info.

Again, just for guidance:

REAR SHOES:
Ferodo FSB543 £14+VAT

Hope this helps...

Rich
