Do you have any local organic dairy farms near you? Our local one often hold open days, the kids get to have a go at making butter the old fashioned way, bottle feed the baby calves etc.... You could always try ringing and asking nicely if the kids could have a go at hand milking?

Not seen cow milking being offered at petting farms, that tends to be more along the lines of lamb bottle feeing etc. I wonder if there's some H & S issues - cow's are heavy!! I know from personal experience how much it hurts being kicked whilst milking! I was tempted to say milking a goat might prove a bit easier (only 2 teats!) but they're just as evil at kicking!!

Good luck!

i would just find a local dairy farm and just go and have talk to them. most farmers would be willing to help out we allways had kids turning up for a look about with there parents and if we could help we allways would.
we worked on the theory that it was hard to get new people into farming as most just want hand outs or to sit behind a desk thinking there going to be loaded in a couple of weeks for doing bugger all, so anybody who was intrested we done our best to help them out.
