Dry January

Dry January
Anyone else gone alcohol free during January ?
I said I would do it and my wife was sceptical, she completely forgets six weeks last year where I didnt drink at all, I am not a massive drinker but I can put a reasonable amount away.
This time has been a bit of a revalation, not really missed it like last year, even the key times on Friday and Saturday night have been easy, went out for a meal and drove, had a little urge as everybodies drinks turned up but not much, other than that, not fussed.
Not saying I am never going to drink again but dont think I will return to it being a bit of a ritual at certain times, I found I was regretting having a drink at about 9/10 a clock, few cans, glass of wine and wondering why I bothered.
I used to love alcohol (not too much though) but I feel like I have moved on a bit and can do without it, I was getting sick of everything revolving around it in terms of arrangements, feeling like I was missing out if I couldnt have a drink at a given occasion. Maybe I have got bored of it ?
Think I may take it into February, anyone care to join me ?

I'm not tee-total but last beer I had was 9 months ago, just can't be asked with it. My days of getting steaming have long gone, and I'm not a fan of the SAS brigades in "Town" these days.
So yeah I'm in lol.

Yep nothing since NYE. Was gonna hold out until Valentines lol.
Tbh not had any problem in the first two weeks. Was not really a massive drinker but usually crack open a bottle of wine on a Friday and the wife only has a glass so I usually finish the bottle off. A few bottles of beer here and there. Last time we did a poker night I did drinkl ¾ of a bottle of southern comfort though and in the summer I am partial to Mojito’s.
Worst bit is I got a bottle of Southern Comfort Lime and Havana Club Anejo for Xmas and not been able to use them.
Going out for meals with friends is fine as I don’t drink loads with food as get bloated.
I did it for health reasons to try and lose a little weight etc. What I am losing in drinking I am keeping on with extra snacks & sweets I have been eating.

I don't drink anything when at home (don't enjoy it tbh) so only drink every now and then when I/we go out. Even then it's generally just a bottle or two of lager as I'm driving. Probably once every 6 months I get bladdered with my BIL. Always feel sh*t the next day ...

Sorry guys I fell off the wagon. 1 week ago I ate a mince pie with brandy butter on it. Then yesterday after trekking around in the snow we stopped in the local to sit by the fire. The temptation of an ice cold San Miguel was too tempting but damn did it taste nice after almost 3 weeks without

Haven't drank since 21st December. I went very very coco-loco and decided enough was enough, unfortunately alcohol only leads to other excesses when I'm in the wrong frame of mind. Infact Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas pretty much summed up my last night of debauchery, so 2013 is gonna be dryish year.

Tried it once and didn't last more than a week. The Friday feeling is the killer, sat around thinking this is boring before finally giving in and heading to the off-licence a short while after.
I'll stick to the alcoholism for now
