Question

OK guys - been to a couple of places in Brick Lane before and been fairly disappointed - I guess its luck of the draw unless you've had advice!

Planning on going there with the missus this Saturday night for a cuzza. Which is your all-time fave???

My favorite, the Lahore Kebab House, is near to Brick Lane.
Corner of Commercial Road and Umbertson Street.

Take you're own booze!

I too can recommend the lahore kebab house. Went several times when I used to work for NatWest in Aldgate.

Edit: Great for a lunch time outing with the lads - not sure I'd take the missus

I'm taking her out somewhere posh Friday night and we both love a curry so I should get away with it. So what's the deal with this Lahore place?? Bring yer own grog?

Lahore is the best, it's been there years and there is an offie across the road where you can buy drink.

The original Lahore is in Umberstone St (off commercial road) as ther others with similar names

No, just turn up with a load of booze and wait for a table!

Enjoy!

Martin.

I've been to a few, and they seem to be pretty universally a old load of old pants.

If you want to go posh, like, try Cafe Spice Namaste, near Aldgate. I was very impressed

Been to Cafe Spice - but thought it overpriced for the food. Somehow "Curry" and "Posh" just dont seem to work :-)

Still go back to Cafe India on Alie St. (2 mins from Aldgate East Tube). Nice balance (imho) between good food/price/environment

Cafe Spice Namaste is very good although not the largest of portions. Being a common south Londoner did get some odd looks from the suits as the beer and noise started !!!

"BRICK LANE" Must serve the worst "Bangladeshi" (Not Indian..) food you can eat. Its all for the "Larger mobs" who think it great.

It is rubbish. Ask Indians etc if they like it.

Deano, I'd completely forgotten about Cafe India until you mentioned it, I had a cracking meal there. I'll have to go back now!
