Default How do movies do it?

Currently watching behind enemy lines and was wondering....

How do Hollywood get to film on an air craft carrier? Do they go to the Navy and say can we borrow your entire ship with no one on it for about 4 months?

Same as the film I was watching yesterday which involved air force one.

Or do they have these huge machines in a corner somewhere?

most likely don't even film it on the carrier. just build a huge set of some bits then use effects and green screens to fill out the rest.

Yes is the short answer, the US military help them, the extent of the help depends on what light the movie shows the military in

So Top Gun a lot, and a film showing them in a negative one, not so much

A remember reading this in an article on the making of a film that did not get any help from the US army

ye same reason top gear get access to eurofighters, tank ranges, tanks, etc as it promotes the 'fun' side of the army, so kind of free advertisment
