Default Can anyone recommend a decent traffic film remover?

Hi, I have a fleet of quad bikes and am struggling to find a decent traffic film remover that will get them properly clean.

To stop corrosion and keep moisture from the electrics we always spray them up with oils (wd40 type) after washing. Over time this builds up into a sticky film that whilst doing its job, looks awful. You can wipe it off easily with petrol or another solvent, but this is impractical and time consuming.

Years ago I worked in a motorcycle shop and we had some awesome stuff that would remove anything, you needed to be very careful on aluminium as it would attack it. However anything that you buy nowadays just seems too weak to do a proper job.

I've tried all sorts of so called 'heavy duty' detergents and whilst some are better than others they just don't do what I want and just leave the grime behind.

Can anyone recommend a decent, real product that will actually do what it's supposed to?

"Trailer soap " from a good truck parts supplier.
Really good stuff, we use one of those hand spray bottles that you pump up then spray it on on our trucks.

But, can't use it on aluminium or it tarnishes

Autosmart do some for lorries, they tend to shift most things, but dont let it dry on to chrome trims bits, it will stain it. So will the stuff that Audi use at their garages.

Well my local Autosmart rep has been round, very friendly and helpful guy.

However nothing he had made any real impact on the dirt stains. Tried G101, tried an engine degreaser which was a little better but still needed a good scrub which of course I could do with any cleaner. He did seem a little surprised.

It would seem that everything that is sold as a TFR is non caustic, which in turn means it doesn't clean well.

Just can't understand as the old cleaners seemed so much stronger.

So back to square one.

Thanks, is this stuff known as anything else as my local truck parts place just looked at me like I was stupid when I asked for it?

Had to do a bit of digging round mate as we call it this but wasn't sure if that's exactly what it's called.

Just called our workshop fitter who buys this stuff in, he said to contact a guy called Brian, at a company called Croft Components.

Contact number is 07899 757438.

Our fitter said he too calls it trailer soap, but when explaining to the guy on the phone he said its easier to ask for the " stuff with the caustic in"

May also be worth mentioning that Paul from A, M Transport gave you his number, and it's the stuff that he buys from him.

Honestly it is really good stuff
