I recently bought some good Kef speakers and if your looking for some good quality ones check out the "Q" range. I bet you could get some nice used ones on ebay which will be like new

You can do so much better on the secondhand market. I bought a set of Rega Ela floorstanders for £50!! (and they are a damned fine speaker, far outpunch what I have had before) Get on hifiwigwam and youll see. They are a friendly bunch on there, they will help you out.

Try the bookshelf iQ3's there size belies there capabilitys,

bass extension is phenominal for such a small speaker.

I replaced my Tannoy 611's with them, hav'nt looked back

if you want a complete setup, look for the iQ1's for surround speakers too

If you want to go over the top buy these I have a pair of Kef Reference speakers and they were £2k. I think if you could get those for £250 your doing well and if you ever had to have an insurance claim thery would pay top dollar for replacement as compared to a cheap set

I had a set of Kef Q floorstanders, i forget the model right now. Another bargain, they were a little tatty, but not on the front so it was all good.

Remember now, they were Kef Q35, a nice speaker, £35!!

Funnily enough, i had the tannoy M3 cherry floorstanders. Not bad, but the Kef controlled the bass better. The Regas I have now are so much better across the piece.

I loikes me bargains.

I'm only joking , I don't want to spend a fortune it's just the onkyo speakers that came with a speaker set lack low end, I know my sub does that but would like my fronts to have a bit more range.

And I'm impressed with my tannoy mercury center

What do you mean by 'top end Kefs'? Top end Kefs have a rrp of £20K, I doubt whether the B&W XT range would be better.
