Importing from abroad and Customs
I imported something from the US and paid priority mail of 45$ using UPS and it arrived in the UK (presumably Heathrow?) in 2 days but then those lazy ******* at Customs have held it for 5 working days before processing it. That is unacceptable and of course on top of this they will be charging me import duty.
As far as i'm concerned they should be refunding me my priority mail postage fees for sitting on the package so long.
Has anyone ever complained or tried to make a claim against Customs and Excise?

I've had this sort of thing before, very frustrating.
Amazes me how it seems to go from a foreign post office, to the airport, then travel halfway around the world in half a day and then takes 4 days to get from the airport to me.
Never paid for priority shipping so never bothered to moan to them.

4 days and then some! They've sat on it for 5 days, today is the 6th day since it hit the UK and now according to tracking it's at a post office somewhere waiting for me to be notified that I need to go and pay duty on it before I can have it FFS. Services in this country are diabolical and run by a bunch of useless cretins.

This is the peril of importing from non-EU countries.
I now only import from the EU due to seriuosly frustrating waiting times in customs followed by the hit.
If the customs declaration form has any discrepancies compared to the contents then you will get your collar felt, you are the importer and responsible for your parcel.
An example...If an item is marked as a gift and it's obvious that 24 copies of a DVD is not a gift or if an item has been undervalued on the Customs Declaration then again the importer will be brought to book.
Never mess with the Customs and Excise people, they have wide ranging powers.
A good read here..

Unfortunately Customs and Excise have their own set of rules and delaying your parcel is of no consequence whatsover as far as they are concerned. They know that you can do nothing about it except complain, and that cuts no ice!

It's not right, but it's the way they are and the way the law allows them to be!
What are you, 12 years old??
