House alarm keyad ?
Anyone know much about alarms, we have a basic alarm system that we put in when we moved in fifteen years ago, no desire to change anything but the keypad has got fiddly to use, the numbers have worn off and it doesn't always register a number, it is an Accenta which I believe is Honeywell, can see replacements from 20 40 quid on Ebay that are the same name but look slightly different, am guessing a later model.
I am thinking most of the action is in the main box so this just has power to it, a link to the panel and should be easy to change, also I am hoping that the newer keypads are the same protocol.
Going to do it myself, just after some pointers, looks fairly simple really, wouldnt mind upgrading to the keypad with the LCD display so you can see what is going on.
Anyone any suggestions ?

easy enough to swap, just make sure its for your model etc,
power down the whole alarm system, this will inclued removing the cover of the main unit(not just the RKP remote keypad) the tamper alarm will go off when you do this but just enter your number in twice typically silence,
once you have done this you can pull the fuse for the mains supply to the Alarm, once this is done the outside siren may go off, if it does your ready for a new SAB unit outside,
anyway once the alarm is powered down just swap the RKP making a note of what colour goes to what connections, once done reconnect the battery and mains etc.

take a few photos so if you cant work the new one out you can put the old one back on as per your picture,
if you cant fix it "big dea" will be able to help you
get an autodialler put on as well

Cheers,
The existing one looks like this,
Ebay has things like this available
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honeywell-...item27cccba10d
The Alarm box in the hall cupboard says "Accenta 8"
I took the keypad off and it looks simple enough to change, six well labeled wires
Just want to make sure I buy the right box, am thinking all the Honeywell stuff should be fairly compatible.
Don't want to get an alarm bloke in like the missus said as realistically its working and I can test each individual sensor, plus don't want to spend what will be a minimum of £150 to get someone out, alarms aren't that complex, just requires a bit of learning, I reckon if I can tune and Oracle database I can change a keypad on an alarm, £30 vs £150/200, no brainer.
