Life insurance rates to rise?
Anybody able to confirm this?
I've been meaning to get life cover for ages but haven't got around to it.
A 'broker' who I've mentioned this to a few times rings me up the other day and says there is new legislation coming out.
The new legislation means that you can't differentiate between men and women and so rates will rise a lot for women but also rise somewhat for men.
He says this will happen by mid December, so says I should try and get it sorted. I've googled it and it does seem as though it is indeed true.
I can understand why this would increase rates for women, but will the rates for men definitely rise as well?
Thanks

Yep - European gender discrimination regulations take effect from 21st December IIRC.
Premiums will be equalised from December, for car insurance, life cover, income protection, critical illness etc.
There is also a prediction that insurers will need to hold greater Capital reserves to insulate themselves from a future financial crisis.
Will be keeping this under review myself - as Mrs T and I have several insurance policies which may be affected.
