Question Best places to sell a car privately?!

Where do people advise their cars for sale these days??

I'm selling my 330d M-Sport and so far I've listed it on ebay, but I'm not sure if its worth also listing on a couple of other sites.

Is Pistonheads a worthwhile bet? Anyone recommend any other good places? I'd like to get rid of the car fairly quickly really as I hate selling privately.

Thanks!

BMW forums, Pistonheads, Autotrader.

If it was a Touring I might have had it myself

Gumtree might be worth a try especially as it's free and you can say what you like about collection, payment etc. And you attract local interest. dl

Gumtree yes, I recently sold some wheels, a moped and a car on there without any issues.

The guy who purchased the car came up from London to buy it.

Hadn't even thought of BMW forums, but I've stuck it on the forum I use now!

Gumtree is another good idea, and if its free then silly not to use that, so I'll get it on there too!

I'd much rather buy from forums as you can browse the sellers posting history to get some idea of how the car has been treated. I'd be wary of a low post count seller in case they're hiding a poor history or just someone using the forum to sell without being an active member. Enthusiasts on forums are more likely to care for their vehicles well in my experience.

Try Pre-Loved ..... FREE!

People who are after something just type it into google and up pops your advert - whether paid for or not.

My last two cars went on the first day in the local papers, 25 quid for the advert and didn't need to bother with anything else. One pic a bit of text and both went to first viewers.

If its a clean tidy car and below £2K. Put the price in the window and park it in a high street or road with plenty of foot and vehicle traffic, move it about a bit to differing locations so it gets more exposure.

I sold my mum's partner's BMW this way within a week...1996 E39 for £1400! Whereas before it had been on ebay classifieds on and off without any real response.

Just make sure the price is in big lettering (big enough to see from a passing car), stick miles and phone number whatever space there is underneath. (writing "for sale" is a waste of time - the price is far more important and implies its for sale anyway ).

I sold my wife's Focus on Facebook! A local for sale or swaps page.

After months of forking out for Autotrader and eBay we sell it on Facebook!!

Facebook has a buy & sell section? Suppose that might be worth a go if its free! Surprising how much it costs to list on ebay and autotrader!
