Question Do Apple Stores have a fixed pricing structure for repairs?

Daughter's iphone 3g is broken (battery won't charge - already replaced the battery)

Was wondering if they do a set price structure for this type of thing. About 2.5 years old (def. out of warranty).

Any ideas?

THanks - that makes it worth the trip to the store. If it was about £130, I would just get one off ebay.

Check for fluff in the connector, I think it's still the #1 fix.

Used to be about that but because the new 4s is now out, they reduced the price. Bonus is you get a new 12 month warranty too, so if anything goes wrong in the next 12 months, they repair/replace for free!

Thanks Jack - first thing I checked tbh. Will book an appointment with the store for Saturday (I'm in the area anyway!)

Will give em a shout first though.

I'm sure they tried to charge me more than £55. For some reason £120 rings a bell. But this was 1 generation ago so I suppose they have a sliding scale for the older stock.

Good luck anyway

Well I took my hubby's less than a month ago and got a brand new one for £55. They did say that the price had decreased because of the 4s.

On their site it stats £55 if it's a battery replacement ,which if they are they will just swap it out.

You must of been lucky

From the apple site

Service arranged through Apple costs £ 55.00. A £ 7.44 shipping fee will be added if you arrange service online or by calling Apple Technical Support. All fees are in British Pound Sterling and include VAT.

Out-of-Warranty Service
If you own an iPhone that is ineligible for warranty service but is eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service, Apple will service your iPhone for the Out-of-Warranty Service Fee listed below.

Please note Out-of-Warranty Repair Service fees from your carrier may be different than those listed below.

iPhone Model Out-of-Warranty Service
iPhone 4S £*146.44
iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS,
iPhone 3G, Original iPhone £*126.44
The*Out-of-Warranty Service Fee includes a £*7.44 shipping fee. The included*shipping fee applies only*if you arrange service online or by calling Apple*Technical Support. All fees are in British pound sterling*and include VAT. iPhone Out-of-Warranty Service may also be available from your wireless carrier. Pricing may vary.

When setting up out-of-warranty service, Apple will request credit card pre-authorisation for the maximum service fee listed above. This amount will be deducted from your credit limit. The final service fee we charge will be determined during testing and may be less than the service fee listed above.

Certain damage is ineligible for out-of-warranty service, including catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces, and inoperability caused by unauthorized modifications. However, an iPhone that has failed due to contact with liquid may be eligible for out-of-warranty service.

Apple reserves the right to determine whether or not your iPhone is eligible for Out-of-Warranty service. iPhones that are repaired or replaced have a 90-day limited hardware warranty or assume the remainder of your standard warranty or AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhone coverage, whichever is longer. Please see*Apple's Repair Terms And Conditions*for further details.

If you have an iPhone that Apple determines is not repairable, you may wish to contact your carrier for other options.

That's all for online repairs booked, where you send the phone off. If you go in store then they will replace it for £55.

Ok, I dont want to seem argumentative , but apple don't charge more or less whether it's online of Instore, they just charge for postage.

I had my 4s replaced (2 weeks ago)iit was the same price online or Instore to get replaced but they did it for free.

I'm not saying what you paid that you're lying as I know apple customer service is brilliant.

My 3GS has a hardware glitch.....

If you turn it off at anytime and reboot it keeps rebooting every 2 minutes until you reset the phone as "new i phone"...

Anyway, went into the apple shop and eventually spoke to a "genius" who downloaded new software into it..... He did say it probably wouldnt fix it,and a replacement will be around £125...

Great.....17 months old...

Its now just a shiny black dog turd..

Change your Sim. A bad sim reboots the phone in the same way.
